Student answer (Band 5.5)
We humans are evolving and developing everyday and with new advancements and technologies comes greater advantages as well as disadvantages. With continous research and trials, we have almost achieve the dream of all driverless vehicles and made the dream come true into reality. Most of the leading companies have already invested into this projects and scientist are working very hard to make auto mobile driverless or independent of humans, where only people travelling inside such vehicles will be passengers. But the real question arises here, whether these vehicles are safe, secure and better or not and what can be the possible advantages and disadvantages of these vehicles?
If we consider the advantages, the possible benefits will be driverless vehicles, no needs of human drivers, new innovation and technology, futuristic cars, safety, security, etc. The vehicles such as cars, buses or trucks can work day and night without being tired or sleepy. The private taxi will provide more privacy with comfort with 24×7 availability. The rate road accidents of vehicles will also be reduced significantly as the driverless vehicles will provide more safety. These vehicles will also follow all rules and regulations, followed by the government like traffic rules, zebra crossing rules, speeding rules and etc.
If we have a look on disadvantages, I think there are very less disadvantages of such driverless vehicles. One disadvantage can be the loss of jobs for many drivers or people working in public transport. Then there can be a possibility of happening of malfunctions in the car, or a defect in the system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is quite limited. While you mention benefits like safety and efficiency, these points are listed rather than explained with depth or specific examples. The disadvantage section is particularly underdeveloped; you mention job losses and system malfunctions but do not elaborate on the implications of these points. Furthermore, the essay ends abruptly with 'But still', indicating that the conclusion is missing. To reach a higher band, you must provide a clear, consistent position throughout and ensure that each main idea is supported by detailed explanation and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'If we consider' and 'If we have a look on', but the transition between ideas is often repetitive. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a concluding paragraph significantly impacts the overall coherence of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next, leading to a well-rounded conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'advantages and disadvantages' and 'driverless vehicles'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'rate road accidents' instead of 'road accident rates' and 'happening of malfunctions'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'autonomous transport', 'technological integration', or 'socio-economic impact'. Avoiding repetitive structures will also help demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Examples include 'we have almost achieve' (should be 'achieved'), 'invested into this projects' (should be 'these projects'), and 'there are very less disadvantages' (should be 'very few'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the incomplete final sentence. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage to improve accuracy.
