Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both advantages and disadvantages, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. The position is somewhat clear, but the conclusion is vague and does not effectively synthesize the points made. Because the response is only 208 words, the depth of analysis required for a higher band is missing. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full task development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Beside this' or 'In addition in constructio'. The progression of ideas is often interrupted by fragmented sentences and unclear referencing. While there is a basic logical flow, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the presence of disjointed sentences make the text feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'mordernisation', 'vechile', 'discable', and 'efford', which occasionally impede readability. The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying on basic terms rather than more academic or topic-specific language. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of control over word choice and the repetitive nature of the language prevent a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic terms and focusing on accurate spelling will be essential for improvement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('these vechile are', 'which cannot access'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the ones attempted are often grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences ending abruptly or lacking necessary commas. The errors are frequent and sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
