Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, but the development is very limited. The ideas are repetitive and lack depth, often relying on simple statements like 'robot is not good for human' without sufficient explanation or relevant examples. The position is stated, but the arguments are not fully extended or supported. The essay struggles to maintain a clear focus, as the introduction and body paragraphs contain significant repetition of the prompt's premise rather than analytical discussion. To improve, you should focus on developing each point with specific examples and logical reasoning rather than restating the same ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed and repetitive. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'For example', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is frequently unclear, and the flow between sentences is hindered by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. The lack of logical transitions makes it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked using a variety of cohesive devices that connect thoughts logically rather than just listing them.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. Words like 'good', 'bad', 'problem', and 'money' are used frequently. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an awareness of style and collocation. Some phrases are used incorrectly, such as 'any time make problem in the robot'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to technology and transportation, such as 'automation', 'efficiency', 'unemployment', and 'technical malfunctions', and focus on using these words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'computer didn't perfectly drive'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. The essay relies almost exclusively on simple sentences, and attempts at more complex structures are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
