Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, fulfilling the prompt's requirements. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the impact on employment, the argument could be strengthened by discussing potential solutions or the broader economic shift more deeply. The examples provided, such as Tesla, are relevant but could be better integrated to support your points more robustly. Overall, the response is relevant and covers all parts of the task, though it lacks the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Which gives a sign of success', where the connection to the previous sentence is weak. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'automobile sector', 'unemployment', and 'AI development'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'running their life with money' instead of 'earning a living' or 'in faster pace' instead of 'at a faster pace'. There is also a lack of less common lexical items that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. To improve, focus on learning more sophisticated collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and add precision to your arguments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'if someone do not know'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'no driver will be their only passengers would be part of journey'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundary control and basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your score.
