Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the future as the technology will have been gone more advanced and the cars and busses will be driverless will be a normal thing for the people on that time.

In my view, the driverless cars and other driverless vehicles would be a good facility, But it would cause some disadvantages too.

Like those drivers that will no more needed to drive the busses and cars, That will be a very stressful thing for them because they would lost there jobs and will get worried about their earnings which should not happen.

In addition, those cars which would driverless as the vehicle system is not efficient to 100% ; the will cause problems sometimes and passengers would be in danger as a chance of getting injured due to car accidents. I believe that driverless cars in the real life would be a little frustrating for people and will cause many problems. For instance if a driverless bus in passing through a hilly area and for some reason if the bus looses its control so the passengers inside the bus would not be able to stop the car and will in a serious trouble that they would lost their lives too.

If we take a look at the benefits of driverless vehicles, So it makes a better facility for people in the future like no driverless car or buss will break the highway rules and laws resulting in less chances of getting accidents though. For example a driverless buss or car will not overspeed from its own limit and no overtaking on the highways due to safety instructions and passengers will be able to reach their destination safely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; while you mention that driverless vehicles would be a 'good facility,' you conclude that they would be 'frustrating' and cause 'many problems.' The development of ideas is limited. For example, the point about job losses is mentioned but not fully explored, and the argument regarding safety is repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should ensure your position is clear from the introduction and consistently supported throughout the essay with more detailed, logical explanations rather than just listing potential issues.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of effective cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are sometimes missing or misused, such as starting a sentence with 'Like those drivers...' or 'So it makes a better facility.' The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'on the other hand') would help create a smoother, more professional structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'good,' 'bad,' and 'problems' throughout the text. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'technology will have been gone more advanced' and 'looses its control.' While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is limited and lacks the precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to technology and transportation, and try to vary your word choices to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with verb tense consistency (e.g., 'will no more needed'), sentence structure (e.g., 'the will cause problems'), and subject-verb agreement. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, which makes the writing difficult to read. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
