Student answer (Band 5.0)

Everything has its own positive and negative side. So people can take derive and disadvantages from anything as well.

If in the future all buses and cars are turned into driverless, people can get more benefits from it. In addition there will be some of disadvangtags also.

Firstly, the easier and safer thing is driverless vehicles because nowadays people are getting busy with their professional responsibilities. So they do not have enough time to drive the car. They can work by using laptops or ipads while they're on the way rather than driving. So it is definitely a good advantage for them.

Along with this, every month you will need to pay a handsome amount to your driver as his salary. Whenever the car will be driverless, you will not need to pay this amount because everyone will be passengers who will be inside the car. Meanwhile, people can save money.

On the other hand, it will give some disadvantages. People who earn through driving or for whom driving, they will face difficulties and will get unemployment. The reason of behind this is that people will obviously give the priority to buy driverless vehicles rather than non-driverless car.

Furthermore, in my experience in China, it was quite challenging for me to experienced like this. The agency booked a driverless car for me. Whenever I was inside of this and I needed to go down for an emergency. But unfortunately, I couldn't operate this and I had to wait for my destination for end.

Technology is getting more advance in day by day. It is quite challenging for those people who'll not easily adopt it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles. However, the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay. While the advantages (productivity and cost-saving) are mentioned, the development is somewhat superficial. The disadvantage regarding unemployment is relevant, but the personal anecdote about the experience in China is not well-integrated and does not effectively support the argument regarding the overall impact of the technology. The conclusion is brief and does not clearly state whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, which is a requirement of the prompt. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a well-developed supporting argument that directly relates to the central thesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is sometimes weak. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Along with this', and 'Furthermore', but they are occasionally used mechanically or inappropriately. For example, the transition between the discussion of professional responsibilities and the cost of a driver is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the paragraph about the experience in China, where the connection between the anecdote and the broader argument about technology adoption is not explicitly stated. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to ensure a smoother flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'take derive and disadvantages' and 'the easier and safer thing is driverless vehicles'. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'handsome amount' to describe a salary, which is informal. There are also errors in word formation, such as 'disadvangtags' (spelling) and 'more advance' instead of 'more advanced'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The reason of behind this is that...' and 'I needed to go down for an emergency'. There are also issues with verb tense consistency and article usage, such as 'in day by day'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without losing grammatical control.
