IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers.

Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern era of technology, its not far to see the buses and trucks are automated. People will be travelling without drivers. This innovation will bring a significant positive outcomes but still it has its own risks.

Driverless transportation will be an amazing invention. People who can not drive due to any heart disease or any other illness would be facilitated. It will lower the risk of accidents which happen due to human error like driving while distracting, driving under influence of alcohol or driving in a bad emotional mood. Robotic system will prevent humans from the emotional distress.

Automated vehicles may have some disadvantages, such as a miner decoding error can be hacked and become the cause of accidents, cyber attacks and wrong location. It might be a huge risk of unemployment for the people who drive to win the daily bread and butter for their children.
