improved road safety

Convening

In the coming years, driverless vehicles such as driverless cars and truck will be increasingly common and the only individuals commuting inside them will be passengers. This essay will elucidate that benefits of this situation outweigh the drawbacks.

Commencing with the ideas to support the given phenomenon, the first and foremost reason is that it improved safety. To explain it, drivers can make mistakes because of tiredness or distraction but if there are driverless transport thus it can reduce those errors and vehicles can follows traffic rules and also react on dangerous condition that can also reduce the rate of road accidents. For example, if there are proper automated vehicles proper rules are following and that can improve the road safety. Another worth mentioning point is that it can provides with convenience. To elaborate it, passengers could use their travelling for other purposes such as completing their work or study rather than driving, which provide them a comfortable journey.

However, if in the future there are proper driverless vehicles it can create some problems. One of the principle reason is that professional drivers can lose their job. To

justify it, as if there are fully automated vehicles thus professional drivers become unemployed that can cause financial difficulties for families that depended on driving as their main source of income. As a result, it may affects the economic growth of a country.

In conclusion, although drivers may lose their jobs are serious disadvantages of this situation still I believe that the advantages still outweigh them because it could bring significant benefits especially in terms of safety and convenience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and clearly states a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The main ideas are relevant, such as improved road safety and convenience as advantages, and job losses for professional drivers as a disadvantage. However, some ideas are under-developed and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on road safety repeats the notion that automated vehicles follow rules and reduce errors without introducing diverse supporting arguments or specific real-world examples. The conclusion also contains a slight slip in phrasing ('although drivers may lose their jobs are serious disadvantages'). Overall, the response fulfills the requirements for Band 6 because it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though the development of those ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, with body paragraphs dedicated to advantages and disadvantages respectively. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, relying heavily on transitional phrases like 'To explain it,' 'To justify it,' and 'Another worth mentioning point is that.' Furthermore, referencing is occasionally vague, and logical progression within paragraphs is disrupted by repetitive phrasing. For example, the transition between ideas in the second paragraph feels abrupt due to formulaic explanations. Despite these flaws, the essay is easy to follow and meets the criteria for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'commencing,' 'elucidate,' 'automated vehicles,' and 'economic growth.' There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are often accompanied by inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, the opening line features stray fragments ('improved road safety / Convening'), and phrases like 'provides with convenience' or 'react on dangerous condition' contain grammatical or collocational slips. Spelling is generally accurate, and vocabulary errors rarely impede communication, allowing the response to comfortably sit at Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting conditional and relative clauses (e.g., 'if there are driverless transport thus it can reduce those errors' and 'passengers could use their travelling for other purposes... rather than driving'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement, article use, and preposition selection. Examples include 'truck will be' instead of 'trucks will be,' 'it improved safety' instead of 'it improves safety,' and 'vehicles can follows' instead of 'vehicles can follow.' Complex sentences often contain faulty phrasing or awkward transitions. Although these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.
