Student answer (Band 5.5)
With the growing influence of AI and technology self driving cars has sparked considerable debate amoung today's genaration. One widely held veiw is that the advantages of driverless vehicles are more then the disadvantages, and i strongly agree with this point. To prove my point i will further discuss how the advantages of self driving cars outweigh the disadvantages.
One advantage of self driving car is that elderly people can travel anywhere without the need of licence. As people get old it is very defficult for them to drive, as well as some countries have rules that elderly people can not maintain their driving licence. For example, In my immediate family i have an uncle, whenever he wants to travel somewhere he always need someone to drive for him.
The other advantage of driverless car is that they are mostly electric cars. These cars are fule efficient as well as eco friendly. Cost of fule is at its highest these days. Fule powered cars cost five times more then the electric cars if the traveled distance remains the same. While fule powered cars burns fule the emit carbon mono oxide which is very dangerous for our enviorment.
The main disadvantage of the self driving cars is security. These cars are vulnerable to cyber attacks as well as fake coumputrize keys to unlock and control these cars.
In conclusion, I remain firmly that the advantages of the self driving cars are more then the disadvantages. This is because the points i have given above. Having supported this with the locgical points i have discussed, it is highly probable the these discussions will become more prevalent over the next decade.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and clearly states a position in favour of driverless vehicles. Ideas are presented, such as helping elderly individuals and environmental benefits, but they are relatively under-developed and repetitive in phrasing. For example, the argument regarding the elderly is supported with a brief personal anecdote about an uncle, but lacks broader extension. The conclusion merely restates the position without adding new synthesis. When evaluated against the official descriptors, the response falls into Band 6 because it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, but these ideas lack full development and depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct points, and a conclusion. However, paragraphing is somewhat basic and cohesive devices are occasionally misused or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'To prove my point i will further discuss' are repetitive and unnatural. Pronoun referencing is generally clear, though minor disruptions occur due to frequent punctuation and capitalization slips (e.g., lowercase 'i'). Overall progression is discernible, but the management of cohesion aligns best with a Band 6 descriptor due to repetitive structures and somewhat rigid transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The candidate uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'eco friendly', 'vulnerable', and 'cyber attacks'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the essay, including 'amoung', 'genaration', 'veiw', 'defficult', 'fule', 'coumputrize', and 'locgical'. These errors demonstrate a limited control of word formation and spelling, although they do not severely impede communication. The lexical range and frequency of errors place this response firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and comparative clauses ('As people get old it is very defficult...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and articles, such as 'self driving cars has sparked', 'always need someone', and 'emit carbon mono oxide'. Punctuation is also weak, notably the persistent failure to capitalize the pronoun 'i'. While communication is maintained, the frequency of errors prevents the grammar score from reaching Band 6, placing it at a Band 5 level.
