Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, taking a clear position that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on advantages largely echoes the same points about working or resting inside the vehicle without significant extension or concrete examples from broader knowledge. The ideas regarding disadvantages focus heavily on joblessness, but they are phrased unclearly and lack robust support. This places the response comfortably within Band 5, as the task is addressed, but the ideas remain under-developed and circular in nature.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into identifiable paragraphs including an introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions such as 'To start with the advantages' and 'To illustrate'. Referencing and logical connection between sentences are often faulty, making it difficult to follow the line of argument. For example, the sentence 'To start with the advantages, there are many advantages of only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers' demonstrates poor structural control and cohesive inadequacy. Overall, the organizational framework meets the criteria for Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and occasionally inaccurate, which restricts the text to a Band 4 or 5 level. The student frequently recycles the prompt's vocabulary ('driverless', 'vehicles', 'passengers', 'advantages', 'disadvantages') rather than using synonyms or paraphrasing. There are numerous word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'financially sport their family' instead of 'financially support their families', and 'every things will be more expensive'. While the meaning can sometimes be guessed, noticeable errors cause frequent strain for the reader and prevent the score from rising higher.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The student uses a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and attempting complex forms that frequently fail grammatically. There are persistent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation throughout the text, such as 'when all driver will be driverless they took rest' and 'Government should encourage their poor peoples who those are jobless'. These frequent errors frequently impede communication and cause difficulty for the reader, aligning the performance with the Band 4 descriptor.
