Student answer (Band 6.0)

Because of the advancements of technology invention of driverless vehicle is expected in the future and the only people travelling inside will be passengers. It may help to overcome major concerns like overspeeding and disobedience of traffic rules. Thus, the merits of driverless vehicles surpass the demerits. I will discuss the reasons behind my perspective in the upcoming paragraphs.

Primarily, in many areas road accidents are at a peak level because some people barely follow traffic rules . Due to the negligence of traffic lights, people sometimes break laws and bump into other vehicles. Secondly, In numerous cases drink driving has been considered a significant cause though it is illegal.

But if cars will be automatic, people will have no longer access to control the vehicles. For example, some researchers have examined different rules like do not drink and drive and overspeed can reduce number of accidents if followed properly. Thus, driverless cars can assist us by reducing number of accidents. Besides, people who are physically disabled will no longer be a burden on their families and will be able to ravel alone safely. A a result of launching self driven vehicles people will enjoy autonomy as they can travel alone.Though automatic cars can be a predominent reason of unemployment since people will no longer need to heir drivers, safety of the public matters more.

To sum up, although the invention also has some drawbacks, its advantages cannot be overlooked. Therefore, formation of selfdriven vehicles can be proven as a boon.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Ideas are introduced, such as reducing traffic accidents and helping disabled people, but some points lack full development and generalisations are a bit broad. For instance, the discussion on unemployment mentions that people will 'no longer need to heir drivers,' touching upon a disadvantage, but it is rather brief. The main position remains clear throughout, and relevant examples and outcomes are provided, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, though some paragraph boundaries and transitions are a bit abrupt. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Primarily', 'Secondly', 'But if cars will be automatic', and 'To sum up'. However, some referencing is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as starting consecutive sentences with 'Thus'. Logical progression is generally maintained, but the flow between ideas in the body paragraphs could be smoother to reach higher band levels. This performance corresponds to Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common and topic-specific items such as 'advancements of technology', 'overspeeding', 'negligence', and 'unemployment'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors, missing articles, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'heir drivers' instead of 'hire', 'ravel' instead of 'travel', 'predominent', and 'selfdriven'. Despite these lexical slips and inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended points, placing it comfortably in Band 5.5 to 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures and relative clauses, such as 'if cars will be automatic, people will have no longer access' and 'people who are physically disabled will no longer be a burden'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with tense usage, verb forms, and articles (e.g., 'invention of driverless vehicle', 'if cars will be automatic', 'reduce number of accidents'). Punctuation is also sometimes faulty, with missing commas and awkward spacing. These errors occasionally cause difficulty or require rereading, which is characteristic of Band 5.
