Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary era, it has been noticed that technological advancement has increased in the automobile companies where the usage of self-driving vehicles will increase also there would be only passengers in vehicles in the future. Moreover, This automation will increase road safety, however, it will led to unemployed drivers. I strongly believe that the advantages outweight the drawbacks.

Nevertheless, the autonomous vehicles will led to the loss of jobs of drivers because cars, buses, trucks and so on will be driveless. Furthermore, such vehicles will be able to use a highly tech such as softwares, sensors, cameras, and so on which will replace the demand the human drivers. For example, the taxi drivers and public transport motorist will loose their job. As a result, the widespread of robo-cars could displace professional chauffeurs in the upcoming period. Therefore, there would be no need for motolist, people who would be travelling will be passengers.

On the other hand, people will benefit from such advancement as there will be an improvement in road safety as road accidents will decline as well as less traffic. To demonstrate, due to lack of humman errors road accidents will reduce. Consequently, The presence of automation, AI sensors, and many more would eleminate trafic jams and accident. Hence, it would be more beneficial for the society to use unmanned vehicles which will increase independence and better safety.

In conclusion, Even though smart cars can led to enemployed drivers, I believe that benefits of such vehicles outweight the drawbacks, because such can increase independency and better safety.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, noting unemployment for drivers as a drawback and road safety and reduced traffic as benefits. However, the development of these ideas tends to be repetitive, and some points are asserted rather than fully extended or supported with deeper reasoning. For instance, the explanation regarding technology replacing human drivers is somewhat simplistic. Overall, the task response is satisfactory and aligns well with a Band 6.0 descriptor, as all parts are addressed, though some areas remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate the disadvantages and advantages. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, transition phrases like 'Nevertheless' and 'On the other hand' are used, but referencing and logical progression are occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing or repetitive structures. Cohesive devices are present but can feel overused or misused, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences within the body paragraphs. These issues place the response firmly at a Band 6.0 for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The writer attempts to use a range of less common vocabulary appropriate to the topic, such as 'technological advancement', 'automation', 'professional chauffeurs', and 'unmanned vehicles'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, including 'enemployed drivers' instead of unemployed, 'motolist' instead of motorists, and spelling errors like 'eleminate' and 'trafic'. While the vocabulary used is adequate to convey the central message and communication is rarely impeded, the frequency of word-choice and spelling inaccuracies prevents the lexical score from reaching higher bands. This performance reflects a solid Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over clause structures through the use of subordinating conjunctions like 'due to' and 'even though'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms and agreement, such as 'it will led' instead of 'lead', 'will loose' instead of 'lose', and 'such can increase' instead of 'such vehicles can increase'. Punctuation and article usage also contain errors. Although these mistakes do not completely impede communication, they occur with enough frequency to cap the grammatical score at a Band 5.5.
