Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the up coming era, all the vehicles like buses, cars and trucks will be operated automatically. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. I think the advantages of driverless vehicles are more than the disadvantages.

Firstly, the driverless automobiles are more safe than as compare to vehicles with drivers. Because human are less responsible than automation. For instance an automated vehicle is more efficient because it has no feel. But a human driver has many weak points that become reason for an accident. So overall travalling with an automated vehicle is much safe. Secondly, a driverless vehicle provide more privacy to its passenger as compare to a vehicle with driver. For example in a driver less car people are able to talk free without the fear of lossing privacy. Furthermore, a driverless car prevent its user from the extra charges of fine because it follow all the rule and regulation of driving. while on the other hand a driver not follow all of them.

While on the other hand, it has some disadvantages. But these have less weightage then its benifits. Its disadvantage is that it create unemployment for humans because once it launched people chose it much rather than a manual vehicle. Also reduce the demand of manually operated vehicles.

In the conclusion, the driverless vehicles like buses, automobiles and trucks are more benificial than its disadvantages. It gives more advantages to its users.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and presents a clear position that the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. Ideas such as safety, privacy, and traffic rule compliance are introduced, though they are somewhat under-developed and lack concrete, sophisticated real-world examples. Crucially, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 239 words against the minimum of 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development and completeness of the task. Because of the limited development and failure to meet the minimum word length, this criterion is appropriately placed at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays basic overall organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical. Transitional phrases like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'While on the other hand' are overused and sometimes clumsily deployed, as seen in the repetition of 'While on the other hand' across consecutive sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the third body paragraph is extremely brief and borders on a single sentence. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and cohesive devices are repetitive rather than flexible. These features align closely with the Band 5 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive throughout the essay. The student attempts some less common terms like 'unemployment' and 'automation,' but often makes word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'more safe than as compare to' or 'it has no feel' instead of emotion or fatigue. There are also notable spelling errors, including 'travalling,' 'lossing,' 'prevent its user from the extra charges of fine,' 'benificial,' and 'benifits.' The range is minimally adequate for the task, but frequent inaccuracies place this response firmly in the Band 5 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb-object patterns. Attempts at complex sentences frequently result in errors, such as 'because human are less responsible than automation' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'a driver not follow all of them' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While meaning can generally be extracted, the high frequency of grammatical errors causes difficulty for the reader and prevents the writing from reaching a Band 6.
