Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, due to busy scheduel most of the people prefer to become a passenger instead of becoming a driver. It is confirmed that in future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. In my opinion that the drawbacks outweight the benefits.

To start with, there are many negative reasons associated with it, the first and foremost point is, unemployment. To explain this, when people prefer automatic vehicles such as drivers. Then the workers who drive cars, buses and trucks to provide good facilities to their family could be throw into difficult situations.

Moreover, another point is depending on machines. To justify this, whe individuals are totally depend on machines so they become unskilled like when driverless cars will come into the market. So the people are unaware from driving and totally depend on machines. Example, such as machine have no guarantee it will work all time good and provide safety.

On the other hand, the first point is preventing from road problems. To elaborate this, in future when without driver vehicles come. So the fear of rule breaking on traffic lights will be reduce because on that time the control of car will be in the hand of AI. Additionalluy, the speed of vehicles also will control which prevents accidents.

To conclude, although these numerous points are that automatic vehical prevent from road issues. However, it also leads to unemployment and depending on machines. Therefor, use of driverless vehicals is bneficial in some ways such in the term of safety.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, ultimately taking a clear position that the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on unemployment correctly identifies a key social issue, but it remains brief and lacks full extension with specific examples. Similarly, the point regarding over-reliance on machines touches on valid concerns about losing driving skills, but the supporting explanation is underdeveloped. While all parts of the task are addressed, the ideas would benefit from deeper elaboration and concrete real-world examples to reach a higher band level. Nevertheless, a clear position is maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and mechanical cohesive devices. Phrases like 'To explain this,' 'To justify this,' and 'To elaborate this' are used repetitively and unnaturally to introduce points. Furthermore, sentence-to-sentence links are sometimes weak, making the flow disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smooth transitions. While the overall organizational structure is visible, the execution of cohesive devices and referencing keeps the coherence at a moderate level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several noticeable word choice and spelling errors. For example, 'scheduel' is misspelled, and phrases such as 'throw into difficult situations' and 'unaware from driving' demonstrate awkward collocations and non-standard English usage. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'unemployment' and 'automatic vehicles,' but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. Errors like 'vehical' and 'bneficial' further detract from lexical control. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, frequent inaccuracies and a limited range restrict the score in this category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as tense inconsistencies, missing prepositions, and incorrect verb forms. Examples include 'when people prefer automatic vehicles such as drivers' and 'the speed of vehicles also will control which prevents accidents.' Punctuation and sentence boundary errors are also present, including sentence fragments such as 'Example, such as machine have no guarantee it will work all time good.' These persistent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and indicate a lack of reliable control over complex grammar.
