Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is no doubt about the fact that driverless cars, buses and trucks comes with its own advantages. On the other hand some school of thought argure that it also leaves behind many disadvantages. I personally believs that driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages. To support my view point detailed ideas would be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, driverless vehicles can helps parents not to worry about droping and picking up their children from school, play ground and so on. For example- if both parents are working and they need to pick their child from school they might need to leave their work in between everyday but vehicles which do not need drivers can solve their issue.

Along with that, it also helps to reduce the effect of accidents. To illustrate it- it totally prevents the risk of driver getting injured when a crash occurs. Another thhing is that it can also reduces chances crash which takes place by people drink and drive, people using phone while driving.

Moreover, every coin has two sides people getting ride in driverless car may be insure about their safety and might not able to believe system totally. Furthermore, System might not able to recognise some objects on the road like animals, which data is not stored in system. Its another drawback is that if the passanger need to change route or have to make any stop on the way which might not gonna happen with driverless vehicle.

To conclude, driverless vehicles has some drawbacks but its advantages outweigh the disadvantages which are discussed in the paragraphs mentioned above.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and presents a clear position that the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the advantage regarding children being picked up from school is clear, but the points on safety and accidents lack depth and specific elaboration. Similarly, the disadvantages are briefly listed without full extension. According to Band 6 descriptors, the task is addressed with relevant ideas, but some points are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, starting with an introduction and ending with a conclusion, which shows a coherent overall arrangement. However, referencing and cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, phrases like 'Along with that, it also helps' and 'Another thhing is that' show basic cohesive linking. Paragraphing is present, but the introduction's declaration that 'detailed ideas would be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs' is overly formulaic rather than naturally cohesive. Overall progression is clear, fitting the Band 6 descriptor where cohesion is sometimes mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching upon relevant topics like 'driverless vehicles', 'advantages', and 'disadvantages'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'argure' instead of 'argue', 'believs' instead of 'believes', 'droping' instead of 'dropping', 'thhing' instead of 'thing', 'insure' instead of 'insecure', and 'passanger' instead of 'passenger'. These inaccuracies prevent the vocabulary score from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5 due to noticeable errors in spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if both parents are working and they need to pick their child...') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('vehicles... comes', 'it also helps', 'System might not able') and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with stray hyphens used incorrectly (e.g., 'For example- if both...'). These errors occasionally cause minor confusion, aligning with the Band 5 profile where frequent grammatical errors persist.
