Student answer (Band 5.5)

After some years all cars, buses and trucks will move without drivers. The only people travelling inside vehicles will be passengers. However, there are both pros and cons to deciding to do this. In this essay, I will discuss some of reasons why in the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless and some of challenges to overcome.

Lets begin by looking at the advantages of driverless vehicles. One of the positives of citizens not need to corporate with drivers. They will not need to listen to driver instructions . what I mean by this is that passengers will enjoy their journey themselves. For instance, they will choose music according to their. This can make passengers fill relaxed and more entertained.

Secondly, They will have more privacy. They can listen to private calls without hesitation as they now their are no one listening to them. Some people hesitate to do some activities when they are travelling with unknown person. Lets take Ali as an example, he love to play video games but he avoid playing games when he is seating with unknown person. This can make passengers to feel comfortable.

Turning to other side of argument, This technology makes many drivers jobless. As a lot of peoples drive different vehicles to earn money they will become jobless as these vehicles need no driver to drive. Lets use Kashif as an example, He is taxi driver he earn money through it to meet his expanses. When he listened about this technology he became very sad. This often leads to poverty in country.

Another issue is that passengers will have to wait for a long time in long journeys. To be more precise Passengers will have no control no speed and they will have no one to ask to speed up. Vehicles will move according to set speed. Let's take a general example, if vehicle move at the speed of 40 km per hour it covers less distance instead of moving at the speed of 60 km per hour. This can make passengers so tired at the end of the day.

To sum up, I think there is no need of such technology as this may cause many problems for passengers as well as for drivers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, presenting a clear overall position in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the first advantage focuses on passengers enjoying the journey, and the second reiterates privacy and comfort. On the negative side, the points regarding job losses and slower travel speeds are relevant but rely heavily on basic, anecdotal examples like 'Ali' and 'Kashif'. While the prompt's requirements are met, the arguments would benefit from greater extension and broader, more academic support rather than relying on informal personal narratives. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, utilizing an introduction, distinct body paragraphs for pros and cons, and a concluding paragraph. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'Secondly', 'Turning to other side of argument', and 'To sum up', but referencing and linking can be faulty or mechanical. For example, expressions like 'Turning to other side of argument' lack a preposition ('the other side'), and some pronouns are misused, such as 'they now their are no one listening to them'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but internal logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and repetitive sentence patterns.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts related to the topic, such as 'driverless vehicles', 'privacy', and 'jobless'. However, there are numerous word choice, collocation, and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'expanses' instead of 'expenses', 'seating' instead of 'sitting', and 'peoples' instead of 'people'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary result in inaccuracies, and the repetitive use of basic phrases limits the lexical score. Communication is not seriously impeded, but the frequent slips prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay employs a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'citizens not need to corporate', 'they now their are no one listening', and 'if vehicle move at the speed'. Punctuation is also problematic, including missing commas and incorrect capitalization in the middle of sentences ('Lets use Kashif as an example, He is taxi driver...'). While simple sentences are generally understandable, attempts at more complex structures frequently result in faulty syntax, characteristic of a Band 5.0 performance.
