Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding whether the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages, taking a clear stance that advantages outshine disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is extremely weak, repetitive, and plagued by incomprehensible phrasing and copied prompt text ('In the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless...'). The arguments presented are vague and lacking in genuine support or specific explanations. The examples provided, such as a vague reference to a report in Germany or India regarding unnamed 'advantages' or 'affects', fail to substantiate the claims. This falls short of the expectations for a fully developed discussion, aligning best with a band score of 4.0 due to the minimal and repetitive handling of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the organization and progression of ideas are severely hampered by poor sentence structure and lack of logical flow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as 'To make it clear, keeping in view the reward linked with this many, people heve taken benefit from this.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion fails repeatedly due to punctuation errors, missing spaces after commas and periods, and a lack of clear referencing. Overall, information is not arranged in a coherent manner, pointing to a band 4.0 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used throughout the essay is very basic, repetitive, and often inaccurate. The student frequently repeats phrases like 'advantages', 'disadvantages', 'merits', and 'demerits' without expanding the lexical field appropriately. There are also numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'convinsed' instead of convinced, 'numerouse' instead of numerous, 'valuse' instead of values, 'quorter' instead of quarter, 'asignificent' instead of a significant, 'importent' instead of important, 'demerits' instead of demerits, 'quorted' instead of quoted, 'lighte obove' instead of light above, 'discassion' instead of discussion, 'Therefor' instead of Therefore, and 'compoved' instead of compared. These vocabulary limitations and frequent spelling errors strain the reader and heavily impede communication, matching a band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatically, the response is very weak. There is a complete absence of accurate complex structures; the sentences attempted are either heavily flawed, fragmented, or run-on sentences. Punctuation and capitalization are largely neglected, with missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'advantages, other resist', 'paragraphs,i would'). Subject-verb agreement and word form errors are constant, such as 'a large number of people are affects adversely' and 'another importent demerits is economy it affects'. Errors are frequent and severe throughout the entire text, distorting meaning and matching the band 4.0 criteria.
