Student answer (Band 5.0)

In time to come, all the vehicle will no longer be drived manualy rather, comuters will travel without needing a driver beacuse the vehicles will drive by itself. I personaly think this is a good development becuse it will help for reduce traffic congestion, improve road saftey, and greater mobility. However, there are wats which it will affect some people like drivers lossing their job and high initial cost.

On one hand, driveless cars will help reduce traffic because they can maintain consistent speed and keep and approprite di

Furthermore, automatic drive cars will help in saftey because it will obey the traffic rules which some drivers do not follow and has caused accidents in varius places. For instance, when i was in secondary school i normally use public transport while coming back, our driver was drunk so he was not able to control the vehicle well which led to an accident at the end so driveless cars will drive carefully.

More so, it will help those who have disabilities and are not able to drive to go to wherever thet want to without depending on anyone. My grandma who loves going out stoped going out because she got sick and could not drive anymore, such technology will be of great help to her.

On the other hand, this improvement will make so many or maybe all drivers lose their jobs because anyone who has the driveless car will not need to employ anybody to drive them. Also this advacement will need a very good maintanace for efective working in other to avoid and malfunctioning which is going to cost individuals so much.

In coclusion, in as much as there are disadvantage the benefit are more based on what i think.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages, discussing both sides of the issue. Key ideas such as traffic reduction, enhanced safety, mobility for individuals with disabilities, and drawbacks like job losses and high costs are introduced. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and truncated, especially in the second paragraph which cuts off mid-sentence ("keep and approprite di"). While a clear stance is maintained throughout, the lack of complete elaboration and the abrupt ending prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Overall, it satisfies the basic requirements of addressing the prompt with a discernible position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic structure with clear attempts at paragraphing and sequencing ideas using transition signals such as "On one hand", "Furthermore", and "On the other hand". However, the progression of ideas is hindered by abrupt breaks, incomplete sentences, and mechanical transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall cohesive flow suffers from frequent structural disruptions. Paragraphing is attempted to separate the introduction, body points, and conclusion, but the lack of completion within the paragraphs detracts from the overall coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally strain communication. Examples of errors include "drived manualy", "comuters", "beacuse", "saftey", "varius", "maintanace", and "efective". The student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as "mobility", "congestion", and "disabilities", but the numerous lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes prevent the response from achieving a higher band score. The range is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas regarding transportation technology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is heavily marred by frequent grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. Issues include incorrect verb forms ("will no longer be drived manualy", "vehicles will drive by itself"), fragment sentences, missing prepositions, and run-on sentences lacking appropriate punctuation. For instance, the sentence "In time to come, all the vehicle will no longer be drived manualy rather, comuters will travel without needing a driver beacuse the vehicles will drive by itself" exhibits multiple structural and agreement errors. While communication is still possible, the density of errors significantly impacts readability.
