Student answer (Band 5.0)
"In the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers." This has become an integral part of the rising debate in the present world. While proponents of the arguments are in favour, however, the opponents are completely against the relevance of driverless vehicle. In my opinion, driverless vehicles has more positive impacts then negatives around the globe.
To commence with, there are a number of arguments in favour of my belief. The most prominent one is that this will reduce the accident ratio. For instance, sometimes, human are emotionally unstable and are not in condition to drive. In such situation, driverless vehicles are very effective.
Secondly, driverless vehicles also provide satey to trhe passengers. For instance, in the driverless car, a female will feel safe. This ultimately reduces the continusly increasing cases of harrassment and kidnapping.
Thirdly, by the use of drverless vehicles, we can save more time. This will make peolpe more punctual.
On the other hand, critics may point out that one of the most significant disadvantages is that driverless vehicles will lead to umeployment in the society. This will have negative impact on so
To conclude, even when there are a lot of demerits associated with driverless vehicles, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. This topic has become a crucial part of our lives. Therefore, driverless vehicles should be promoted and encouraged. And its misuse should be condemnded.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and presents a clear position that the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. However, there are several limitations. Firstly, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 241 words, which triggers a penalty under Task Achievement. Furthermore, the body paragraphs are quite brief and under-developed. For instance, the point regarding safety and harassment is asserted rather than fully supported with robust examples, and the disadvantage paragraph is cut off mid-sentence ('This will have negative impact on so'). Consequently, while the central topic is addressed, the development remains partial and incomplete, leading to a band score of 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some logical organisation with standard cohesive markers such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand'. However, the overall progression is disrupted by underdeveloped paragraphs and the abrupt ending of the text mid-sentence. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack sufficient internal cohesion and logical extension. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical use of transition phrases prevents the essay from achieving a smooth flow. These issues reflect a band 5.0 level of coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a minimally adequate vocabulary for the task, touching on relevant topics like 'driverless vehicle', 'unemployment', and 'accident ratio'. However, there is a lack of precision, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors occur throughout the text, such as 'satey', 'trhe', 'continusly', 'harrassment', and 'condemnded'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles with collocation and accurate spelling, which occasionally causes strain for the reader. These characteristics align closely with the band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional or concessive clauses ('While proponents of the arguments are in favour...'). However, the control of grammar and punctuation is inconsistent, leading to frequent errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'driverless vehicles has more positive impacts then negatives' and incomplete or truncated sentences in the final body paragraph. While basic meaning is generally communicated, the frequency of grammatical and mechanical errors places this text firmly at band 5.0.
