Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, stating a clear personal position that advantages outweigh disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is severely hindered by repetitive phrasing, lack of relevant examples, and numerous irrelevant statements such as 'government have accept the driver for other transport'. The body paragraphs fail to logically discuss specific pros and cons, instead drifting into vague assertions about people not preparing for future travel. While the writer attempts to cover all parts of the task, the arguments are underdeveloped, repetitive, and occasionally unclear, which aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall organisation and progression of ideas are heavily disrupted by confusion and lack of logical flow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'On the hand' and 'On the other hand', which do not accurately signal contrasting points. Referencing is frequently unclear, with pronouns like 'this' and 'they' referring to ambiguous antecedents. The conclusion merely repeats chunks of the introduction verbatim rather than summarising the main points cohesively. These issues place the response firmly at Band 4.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on exact phrases copied from the prompt or from earlier in the essay, such as 'rapid development of technology, driverless vehicles are becoming a reality'. There are numerous word choice and collocation errors, including 'tour inside', 'self driven', 'distrub for road diffcuilt', and 'conslcusions'. Less common lexical items are attempted but used incorrectly, and spelling errors occur throughout the text (e.g., 'prepectuctive', 'distrub', 'developedment', 'driveless'). The vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a very basic message, but the frequent errors and restricted range reflect Band 4 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, with simple sentences heavily prone to structural breakdown and faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent, severe errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people is travelling'), and tense usage. Punctuation is also problematic, including missing capital letters after periods, unspaced commas and periods, and floating fragments like 'I strongly have disadvantages and in this essay , I hope explain the reasons or example is more prepectuctive.' These persistent errors cause frequent strain and difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 4 descriptors.
