Student answer (Band 5.5)

Technology has been achieving greater heights every day and forth. We have seen many vehicles going driverless from buses to trains to cars. In future it would be completely driverless transportation but it also has raised questions and fear in the mind of people regarding trusting on artificial technology for their safety and for job opportunities. This essay will be covering both perspective before i explain why going for completely driverless transportation would be a bad idea.

On the one hand, newer innovations and technology are coming every day. We can see automated vehicles without drivers used as taxi . People are building more and more trust on their technology. Some people believe that in future all transportation should be driverless it will help in reducing the work load of the human beings so they can focus more on their valuable things. Sometimes due to drivers mistake or reckless driving it causes accidents but if it would be automated by Artificial intelligence it would reduce the chances of accidents some countries also had adopted this type of tech like Dubai ,Japan are the great examples

On the other hand , people believe that it can results in losing job opportunities for them people whose living are depends on driving will go jobless also some people suggests that it too early to trust artificial intelligence with their life for examples there had been few incidents with customers using driverless taxi service they have reported that sometimes the car speed have been gone too high or the car has taken them to wrong destinations. recently a incident has been recorded where driverless car has faced collision with another car hopefully people survived and faced few injuries.

In conclusion I would like to say that it a fun experience to have a ride in a car without driver but to build full trust on this system would take decades. In meantime we should build a balanced structure in that way that it would not cause loose in jobs and also great for the economy.

Overall5.5

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, ultimately presenting a clear, albeit somewhat conversational, position. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of Dubai and Japan adopting automated tech, as well as specific incidents involving high speeds and collisions. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial in places, and the transition between perspectives could be sharper. For instance, the discussion on job losses and safety concerns is somewhat generalised and lacks deep elaboration. Nevertheless, the prompt is adequately answered and all core requirements are met satisfactorily, placing the response comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Logical organisation is visible, as the writer clearly demarcates 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, cohesion is occasionally faulty and mechanical. There are repetitive patterns in referencing, and some cohesive devices are misused or absent, particularly regarding transitions between sentences within paragraphs. For example, 'recently a incident has been recorded' lacks smooth integration with the preceding sentence. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct themes, but overall flow and cohesion require more sophisticated linking mechanisms to reach a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used represents an adequate range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'artificial technology', 'job opportunities', and 'collision'. However, there are numerous lexical errors, awkward collocations, and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'every day and forth' instead of 'from strength to strength' or 'continually', 'living are depends' instead of 'livelihoods depend', and 'cause loose in jobs' instead of 'job losses'. Spelling slips like 'a incident' rather than 'an incident' also occur. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general meaning without severely impeding communication, the frequency of inaccuracies restricts the score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability in structuring sentences with dependent clauses, such as 'Some people believe that in future all transportation should be driverless it will help in reducing...'. However, punctuation and grammatical accuracy are problematic. There are several run-on sentences and comma splices, missing articles ('in future' instead of 'in the future'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('people whose living are depends'). Attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and require them to re-read certain phrases. The control over grammar is characteristic of a solid Band 5.0 performance.
