Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the future eras, due to the cutting-edge inventions, the buses, cars and trucks will be without drivers. While, these vehicles contain some individuals in them and those individuals would not be drivers but passengers. In this essay, both merits and demerits will be discussed with a logical conclusion.

To begin with, scientific discoveries are not overwhelming the medical and education sectors but it has a substantial proportion of positive impacts on the transport industry. In the future, all vehicles will be driverless because cutting-edge innovations would become more advanced in the near future. The public vehicles would be able to operate from the head offices. This would be perfect for those who are not satisfied with the performance of current drivers. Furthermore, sometimes drivers mistakenly leave the passengers on the roads because they are not fully concentrated while driving. That is why, this trouble would be sorted out in the near future.

In addition, this innovation also has a handful of demerits. Likewsie, this whole system comprises of advanced technology and sensors and there would have been some errors and omissions experienced by individuals. Due to the fact that, this would result in unexepected events on the roads. Another significant factor is a stress and depressed state because not everyone has a bold courage; that is why, when passengers would globetrotter on these vehicles they will face unpleasent and stressful situations because these vehicles would driverless. A prime instance is nations, who are currently experiencing errors in driverless vehicles especially China, and these hurdles would become more worse without effective and efficient strategies in the future.

To put it briefly, although incoming eras are the eras of cutting-edge inventions and driverless vehicles would trigger hardships for some globetrotters, this would become possible by grasping some meaningful techniques with an effective approach. That is why, we can say that merits outweigh the drawbacks but some effective plannings would require.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, and it takes a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, as stated in the final paragraph. The ideas are relevant, such as mentioning the potential reduction in driver-related human errors and highlighting concerns over technology glitches and passenger anxiety. However, some of the supporting points are under-developed or expressed with vague phrasing, such as 'not everyone has a bold courage' when discussing passenger stress. Overall, the content is sufficient for a Band 6.0, as it covers the prompt adequately, though a more thoroughly elaborated line of argument with concrete examples would be required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the separation of merits and demerits. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or awkward, such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'To put it briefly'. Furthermore, referencing and logical progression are occasionally strained by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions, such as 'Likewsie, this whole system comprises of advanced technology'. These minor cohesion faults place the response securely at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including terms like 'cutting-edge inventions', 'transport industry', and 'innovations'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'in the future eras', 'globetrotter on these vehicles' (used as a verb), and 'become more worse'. Spelling mistakes are also present, such as 'Likewsie' and 'unexepected'. While the vocabulary used is adequate to communicate the main ideas, the frequent lexical inaccuracies and unnatural phrasing restrict the score to a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied grammatical structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors in articles, prepositions, and verb patterns, such as 'scientific discoveries are not overwhelming the medical and education sectors but it has', 'comprises of' (unnecessary preposition), and 'plannings would require' (passive voice error). Although these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency means that error-free sentences are not in the majority, which is characteristic of a Band 5.5 performance.
