Student answer (Band 6.0)
Transport such as cars, buses and trucks would be using autopilot technology in the future which means individuals travelling in these vehicles would only be the passengers with no drivers. I strongly believe that the advantages of this technology will outweigh the disadvantages.
This technology would result in numerous advantages. For instance: Road rules, safety and regulations would be followed strictly. In countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh numerous road accidents occur due to the stupidity of drivers driving high transport vehicles such as buses and trucks, most of them are sleepy, tired and exhausted because they drives a lot more then there capacity for higher income. Moreover, In these countries drivers driving public transport vehicles starts racing with each other either for fun or for a passenger, could probably lead to number of road accidents.
Accidents caused because of low transport vehicles all around the globe occurs mostly due to the under-age drivers. They are not mature enough to understand the road rules and regulation and could not withstand the road pressure and eventually result ina road accident. Under-age drivers not only endanger their own lives, but other people's lives also are endanger because of there foolishness. Moreover, this technology would probably require shifting from old vehicles to new one consequently resulting in lower environmental pollutions as most of the old hihg tranport vehicle does not follow the emission regulations and even safety regulations.
In my opinion, the drawback would only be the unemployment for drivers, but these numerous advantages including the reduction in accidents which means human lives even animal lives also would probably me more safer on roads with driverless vehicles and the reduction in environmental pollution.
In conclusion, I would argue that only the one advantage which is human lives would be safer could outweigh the unemployment drawback of driverless vehicles.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and clearly states a position that the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. The writer extends and supports ideas by providing relevant examples, such as referring to driving conditions in countries like Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise and some points become slightly repetitive, particularly regarding driver behaviour, accidents, and environmental impacts. The single disadvantage (unemployment) is briefly acknowledged towards the end. Overall, the task is addressed well with a clear position maintained throughout, aligning with the criteria for Band 6.5 or a solid 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, paragraphing and logical progression show weaknesses. For instance, the second body paragraph mixes points about public transport drivers with private/low transport vehicles and environmental pollution. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly used, such as starting sentences with 'For instance:' followed by a colon rather than integrating it smoothly into the clause structure, and phrases like 'Moreover, In these countries' appearing repeatedly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the final paragraph where the argument becomes slightly tangled. Progression lacks smooth transitions between ideas, placing this criterion at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'autopilot technology', 'emission regulations', and 'unemployment'. However, there are notable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text. Examples include 'high transport vehicles' instead of 'heavy transport vehicles', 'drives a lot more then there capacity' (spelling and grammatical errors), and 'lower environmental pollutions' (uncountable noun misuse). Spelling errors such as 'hihg' and 'morer' occur, and phrasing is sometimes unnatural. While communication is not impeded, the frequent lexical errors keep the performance within the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, comfortably meriting a 6.0 for effort and adequacy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity for subordination and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb tense, agreement, and punctuation. For example, 'individuals travelling in these vehicles would only be the passengers with no drivers', 'most of them are sleepy, tired and exhausted because they drives', and 'other people's lives also are endanger because of there foolishness'. Run-on sentences and punctuation slips are common, such as missing commas or comma splices in compound-complex structures. Although these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the score from reaching Band 6.0, leading to a Band 5.5.
