Student answer (Band 5.5)

In future people will travel by the buses, cars and trucks which will be driverles. Only the people travel by these vehicles will be the passengers. There are many advantages of these vehicles but at the same time there are many more disadvantages.

In future everthing will be updated to its new form and driverless vehicles are the new future of transport system. It is benificial for older people who can not drive. It also helpful for the people suffering from some health issue and cant drive. Parents who both have busy schedule can work freely without any tension of picking childerns from schools. To some extend it is safe for women passengers like protect then from drunk driver. Also there will be no traffic issue like they will follow traffic rules more effectively.

While on the other hand there is also many disadvantages of these driverless vehicles. The job of drivers will be in danger this may lead to jobless situation for the drivers. Moreover who will be responsible if there is some kind of accident. There may be some softerware issue or some other technicle issue like hacking or server down. At the inital stages of these vehicles the cost of transport will be very high and and normal person could not afford it. Many people will have less intraction and avoid to travel from them.

According to my point of veiw we should try new technologies but we should not avoid its undesirefull effects or disadvantages so thats way the advantages of driverless vehicles will not outweigh its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, presenting a clear position that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. The ideas are relevant and cover multiple facets such as safety, convenience, employment, and technical risks. For example, the student points out benefits like assisting older people and helping busy parents, while countering with drawbacks like job losses for drivers and software malfunction risks. However, some arguments remain underdeveloped and general rather than fully elaborated with specific examples. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for a Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, where all parts of the task are touched upon but require deeper extension to reach higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is arranged into four paragraphs, following a standard introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from advantages to disadvantages, giving the essay a coherent overall structure. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or missing entirely, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'like they will follow traffic rules'. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical transitions between sentences can be abrupt. For instance, moving from the benefits for older people to busy parents lacks smooth transitional markers. Despite these mechanical flaws, the text remains readable, which aligns well with the Band 5.0 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'benificial', 'undesirefull', and 'technicle'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the response, including 'driverles', 'everthing', 'childerns', 'extend' (used instead of extent), 'inital', 'softarware', 'intraction', and 'veiw'. Word choice and collocations are occasionally awkward, such as 'jobless situation' instead of 'unemployment'. While the student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for discussing transport technology, the persistent spelling errors and occasional imprecise word choices restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Parents who both have busy schedule can work freely without any tension of picking childerns from schools.' There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly concerning article usage, subject-verb agreement, and plurals (e.g., 'there is also many disadvantages', 'cant drive', 'at the inital stages'). Punctuation is also sparse, leading to run-on thoughts. These errors require some effort from the reader to decode meaning, though communication is not completely impeded. Because complex structures are attempted but frequently contain errors, this performance earns a Band 5.0 for Grammatical Range and Accuracy.
