Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt minimally, attempting to discuss both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, but the position is not always clear and ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that driverless cars reduce accidents and help parents, but these points are expressed superficially without clear elaboration or specific examples beyond vague assertions. Similarly, the disadvantages concerning machinery failure or brake failure are touched upon, yet they lack structured argumentation. The essay tends to over-generalize and struggles to maintain a consistent, well-supported viewpoint throughout the task, leading to a restricted exploration of the topic that aligns with a minimal response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization evident in the division into paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a brief conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used inadequately or inaccurately, such as the repetitive use of 'when', 'suddenly', and awkward transitional phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' which fail to logically link the sentences smoothly. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow between sentences. For example, the sentence 'While, travel easily' and the disjointed connections in the third paragraph disrupt the coherence and demonstrate mechanical rather than skillful management of text structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'advantage', 'disadvantage', and 'machinery', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that cause some difficulty for the reader. Instances of incorrect lexical items include 'ration' instead of 'ratio', 'tenstion free' instead of 'tension-free', 'maschinery', 'mashinery', and 'rached' instead of 'reached'. These persistent errors in spelling and collocation restrict the precision of the writing and indicate a basic lexical range that occasionally strains comprehension.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer uses a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences or attempts at complex structures that are frequently faulty. Frequent errors in grammar, verb forms, and sentence construction are apparent throughout the text, such as missing auxiliary verbs, incorrect prepositions, and faulty subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this is several advatntage and disadvantage aspect', 'if we use driverless trucks... whos person we can do', and 'untill well not mechanic come here'). Punctuation is also erratic, with misplaced periods and spaces. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control over grammatical accuracy and sentence variety.
