Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many countries of the world, the transportation system should drive by a AI. People use this vehicles for travelling as a passengers. Although some might consider it negative, I believe it to be extremely beneficial. Not only because of time saving and reduce the number accident, but also because of the better infrastructure of transport.
There are multiple advantage associated with the driverless transport. Firstly, time saving can be consider as the leading benefit of this development. As the vehicle who used by AI select the shortest route for the destination and save the time of passenger. Take an example, the Prime Minister of the China, predicted that in 20250, driverless transport used in the road of their city because it is time saving transport. Thus, this mega benefit has the potential to make this development a positive development.
Secondly, apart from time saving, reduce the number road accident can also be another major benefit. As driverless vehicles use safe route and drive careful with the help of AI. For instance, a survey conduct in Germany, 60 percent people said driverless is the best way to control the number of road accident. Hence, less road accident can be labelled as the most significant advantage, giving this development a positive outlook.
Finally, better transport infrastructure can also be considered a leading benefit driverless vehicles. As driverless transport follow the timetable and instruction of the government policy.
To sum up, even though this development might have some drawback too, but I believe that the benefit it bring in term of time saving, reduce number of accident and better infrastructure can make this development an overall positive one.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, taking a clear position in the introduction and reiterating it in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and uneven. While advantages such as time-saving and accident reduction are mentioned, the supporting arguments rely heavily on generalisations and weak examples, such as the unsupported mention of a survey in Germany or a prediction about the Prime Minister of China. Furthermore, the disadvantages are only superficially acknowledged in the conclusion rather than being properly explored in a dedicated body paragraph. To move higher, the response needs to fully develop all parts of the task with more robust and logical supporting evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the use of transitional markers like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Finally' helps to structure the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by mechanical cohesive devices and referencing issues. For example, referencing pronouns and transitional phrases can feel repetitive and formulaic, as seen with the recurring pattern of 'As driverless transport...'. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and fluidly without relying on rigid templates, allowing for a smoother logical flow between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate the main points about driverless technology, successfully incorporating terms like 'transportation system', 'infrastructure', and 'significant advantage'. However, there are noticeable lexical and word-form errors throughout the text, such as 'drive by a AI' instead of 'driven by AI', 'reduce the number accident' instead of 'reducing the number of accidents', and 'drive careful' instead of 'drive carefully'. These errors indicate a limited lexical range with frequent inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, although they do not entirely impede communication. Incorporating a wider variety of precise, less common vocabulary with correct word forms would elevate this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside frequent attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are persistent errors in basic grammar, including article omission ('on the road of their city'), subject-verb agreement ('the vehicle who used'), and prepositions. For instance, sentences beginning with 'As...' often form sentence fragments rather than complete clauses, as seen in 'As driverless vehicles use safe route and drive careful with the help of AI.' Punctuation and verb tense control also show frequent inaccuracies that require the reader to occasionally decode the meaning. Greater control over complex sentence patterns and reduced error frequency are needed for improvement.
