Student answer (Band 4.5)

The development of technology suggests that future road transportation including buses, car and trucks will become driver less. I believe this should be a disadvantages for the road safety or another accidents if it will no successful.

In the commence, technology is developing the many countries with new editions with automatic system, like this only future planning is to make autonomous vehicle. By producing this vehicle, there will be a technical error issue, cyber-attacks, software issues can causes problem to passengers and vehicle both. Or, it can being hack by any consumer so consumer will also cause problem in the transportation. Job losses, drivers will not be able to get their income like taxi, bus departments, truck drivers. this will be a big problem for them or any family and can't get any other job because of less education background.

Secondly, Advantage like road safety nowadays, vehicles are running very faster and drives top speed so, there are chances of road accidents for them, if autonomous vehicles is produce so it have a feature like drive in sufficient speed or marked speed only like 60 to 80 top speed, by this organisation less chances of accidents and keeps it safely to passengers.

In the conclusion, autonomous vehicles are driver less vehicles travelling inside with passengers only, cannot have trust on vehicles, job losses for drivers, no road safety may be.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally and fails to meet the word count requirement of 250 words, as the student's text contains only 230 words. The position is stated rather unclearly in the introduction ('I believe this should be a disadvantages...'), and the ideas are presented in a very limited and under-developed manner. While the student touches upon disadvantages such as technical errors, hacking, and job losses, and mentions safety as an advantage, these points lack sufficient extension and support. The conclusion merely lists fragments rather than summarising the main arguments effectively. To reach a higher level, the writer must expand the response past the minimum word count, state a clear position on whether advantages outweigh disadvantages, and fully develop each point with relevant explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Information and ideas are not arranged in a truly coherent way throughout the essay, resulting in a disjointed structure. Although paragraph breaks are attempted, the overall progression of ideas is difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used rather awkwardly or inappropriately, such as 'In the commence' to open the second paragraph, or fail to establish clear relationships between sentences. Reference words are sometimes unclear, and the transition between discussing disadvantages and advantages lacks smooth logical linking. To improve in this area, the writer needs to ensure a clear overall progression from introduction to conclusion, use standard linking phrases naturally to guide the reader through the arguments, and maintain logical links both between and within paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing words that strain the reader's comprehension at times due to noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation. Examples of awkward lexical choices include 'driver less', 'transportation including buses, car and trucks', and 'marked speed only like 60 to 80 top speed'. There are also frequent issues with word forms, such as using 'disadvantages' instead of the singular or using 'consume' and related forms inaccurately. The lexical range is limited to very common terms, and attempts at less common vocabulary are unsuccessful. To achieve a higher score, the writer must build a wider vocabulary range, use word forms accurately, and pay closer attention to natural collocations and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of structures, consisting mainly of simple or faulty complex sentences. Errors are frequent and often distort the meaning, causing considerable difficulty for the reader. There are persistent problems with verb tenses, agreements, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, as seen in sentences like 'if it will no successful', 'can causes problem', and 'it can being hack'. Additionally, punctuation is weak, leading to run-on structures or sentence fragments. To progress to a higher band, the writer must demonstrate control over a wider variety of sentence structures, reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors, and ensure accurate use of verb forms, articles, and plurals.
