| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

| Overall | 6.0 |
Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, leading to a clear personal position in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the point about reducing road accidents is supported by mentioning quick decision-making, other ideas are somewhat under-developed. For example, the mention of Mukesh Ambani using automated vehicles to prepare for work is brief and lacks broader analytical extension. To reach a higher band, the writer would need to fully develop all main points with extended explanations and more robust supporting arguments rather than relying on brief examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with distinct sections for advantages, disadvantages, and the final verdict. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally faulty, such as the abrupt transition in the opening sentence 'In recent year, trend has been changed...' and repetitive use of cohesive devices like 'For example' and 'In addition'. To improve, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices without over-relying on standard formulas, ensuring smoother logical bridges between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the main ideas regarding autonomous transportation. The writer attempts less common vocabulary such as 'technological advancement', 'malfunctions', and 'cybersecurity systems', though these are sometimes accompanied by word choice and word form errors, such as 'loss their job' instead of 'lose their job' or 'save people's time' instead of 'saving people's time'. Spelling and word choice errors are present, but they do not impede communication. To move to a higher band, the writer should incorporate a broader range of sophisticated lexical items with greater precision in collocation and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses. However, there are noticeable errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage throughout the text, such as 'In recent year, trend has been changed', 'driverless vehicles are available', and the lowercase 'in conclusion' at the start of the final paragraph. While these errors reflect a control typical of a mix of structures where some mistakes persist, they rarely impede overall communication. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate tighter control over verb tenses, singular/plural agreements, and punctuation.
