Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and presents a clear position, stating that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the second body paragraph attempts to explain how automated systems might struggle with unexpected road situations, the ideas remain slightly under-developed and would benefit from more thorough elaboration. Similarly, the conclusion touches upon unemployment and unskilled drivers, but these points lack deeper extension. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend and support all main arguments with richer details and clearer examples throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the use of paragraphing is visible. However, the cohesion between and within sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty. The writer relies on basic transition signals such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition to this', but referencing is not always clear, and some sentences feel abrupt. For instance, the transition into the discussion about job crises lacks smooth logical progression. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that the progression of ideas from one paragraph to the next flows naturally without relying on repetitive formulas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and contains numerous errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation that occasionally impede communication. Throughout the text, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies such as 'transportations', 'passanger', 'srongly', 'mechine', 'robort', 'voilation', 'convinients', and 'oppurtunity'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'consequences', 'unemployment level', and 'organizations', but control over word formation and spelling is weak. To reach the next level, the student must significantly expand their lexical repertoire, pay closer attention to standard spelling conventions, and ensure that word choices accurately reflect the intended meanings in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic combinations. While there are some attempts at complex forms, these are frequently marred by errors in grammar, articles, and prepositions. Examples include 'in future all transportations will be self drive', 'the only individuals visit inside', 'I am srongly agree with side of disadvanges', and 'auto driving vehicles rise the irresposibilty'. Punctuation is also sparse, with run-on phrasing and missing commas affecting readability. To improve this criterion, the writer needs to practice a greater variety of complex grammatical structures, ensure correct subject-verb agreement and article usage, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
