Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the next coming era, it is predicted that automobiles will be comppletely self driven and the need of drivers would be eliminated. This kind of advancement will have it's pros and cons, however; i believe that most of the people will be benefitted and advantages will outweigh the disadvantages as it is more safer and economical.
People, now-a-days want safety and privacy over anything, driverless automobiles give people a sense of security and privacy as passengers could be alone during their travel, moreover; they do not have to be cautious about travelling with a stranger. For instance, Tesla launched their first self driven cars and it is operational all over the country. People have positive reviews about the innvation that it is much more convinient than a normal car. The success of this launch proves that it is going to be in the best interest of people in the future.
Another great benefit of self driven automobiles is that these are economical as the cost of driver is excluded, however; this will have a negative effect on employement rate. In Japan, most of the buses, trucks and trains are driverless as a result, travelling is so cheap and economical. In a survey, about 75% of the people in Japan are in the favor of self driven automobiles. Hence, this will be a great innovation in the future as it will be budget friendly.
In conclusion, there might be some cons of driverless vehicles, however; the pros outweigh the cons making it a great advancement. It is much safer and economical for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, ultimately presenting a clear position that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which is typical of this level. For instance, the discussion around safety and privacy is supported by a relevant example regarding Tesla, though it tends to generalise user sentiment. Similarly, the economic benefit is linked to the absence of driver costs and supported by a reference to Japan, but the counter-argument regarding employment rates is mentioned only briefly and remains somewhat under-developed. To reach the next level, the writer needs to extend and support all main ideas equally well, avoiding any tendency to over-generalise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, demonstrating the foundation of a half-band score by achieving a clear progression of ideas throughout the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as safety in the second paragraph and economic factors in the third. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, particularly in the misuse of semicolons and conjunctions in transitional phrases like 'moreover; they do not have to be cautious' and 'however; i believe'. Referencing and logical transitions could be managed more flexibly to ensure a smoother flow between sentences and to fully unlock the higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'innovation', 'economical', and 'employment rate'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect this band, including 'comppletely', 'self driven', 'innvation', and 'convinient'. Additionally, phrasing such as 'more safer' shows non-standard lexical patterns. While these slips do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. To improve, the writer should focus on accurate spelling, correct word forms, and refining collocations to demonstrate greater precision and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising structures such as conditional and relative clauses ('In the next coming era, it is predicted that...'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as capitalization issues ('i believe') and incorrect punctuation before conjunctions and conjunctive adverbs, but these errors rarely impede communication. The presence of both error-free sentences and occasional structural slips is characteristic of this level. To move forward, the writer should aim for a higher frequency of error-free complex structures and tighter control over punctuation rules, particularly regarding commas and semicolons.
