Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is predicted that in the near future, all modes of transport will become fully autonomous with no human driver. In my opinion, although this development has some serious drawbacks, it's advantages significantly outweigh the disadvantages because it ensures the safety of individuals and are more convenient.
The main advantage of driverless car is safety. Morethan 90% of road accidents are caused by human errors, such as over-speeding, drunk driving and using mobiles phones while driving. An autonomous vehicle, controlled by computers and sensors , would not make such mistakes. It would follow tarfic rules strictly and would not get tired and distracted. For instance, in Pakistan, thousands of people died every year in truck and bus accidents. Driverless trucks could significantly reduced this fatal accidents. Furthermore, it peovides more convenience for elderly people, disabled and children who cannot drive.
Another major benefit is that is efficiency ad time saving. Traffic flow would also improve because autonomous cars can communicate with each other and avoid traffic jams , which would save fuel and reduce pollution.
On the other hand, there are clear disadvantges. Firstly, million of drivers such as taxi drivers, bus drivers, truck drivers and rickshaw drivers would lose their jobs, which would cause unemployment and economic problems, especially in country like Pakistan. Additionally, driverless cars totally depend on software and internet connection. If he system would hacked and fail, it can lead to dangerous accidents. The technology will also be expensive, so developing countries cannot afford it.
In conclusion, although job loss and security risks are serious concerns that are need to be addressed, I believe that advantages of more convenience, safety and efficiency outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, presenting a clear position that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. The ideas are generally relevant, covering safety, efficiency, employment, and technical risks. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which places the response in the mid-range. For instance, the discussion on safety includes specific supporting points like human error statistics and real-world application examples in Pakistan, whereas the point on efficiency is somewhat brief and under-developed. To reach the next level, all main points need to be extended with deeper explanations and more consistently thorough support throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas. It is divided into an introduction, clear body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages separately, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas together, such as "The main advantage", "Another major benefit", and "On the other hand". However, some aspects of cohesion are mechanical or faulty. For example, referencing and transitional links occasionally feel abrupt, and paragraphing could be managed with greater flexibility to ensure smoother transitions between contrasting ideas. To improve further, you should aim for more natural and seamless referencing between sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that every transition guides the reader effortlessly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. You make commendable attempts to use less-common lexical items, such as "autonomous", "efficiency", and "unemployment". There are, however, some noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms that reflect the mid-range band. Examples include "Morethan" instead of "More than", "tarfic" instead of "traffic", "peovides" instead of "provides", and "disadvantges". Additionally, phrasing such as "security risks" in the conclusion when discussing hacking is slightly imprecise. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary further, ensure greater precision in collocations, and eliminate spelling slips through careful proofreading.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the essay, including relative clauses and conditional structures like "If he system would hacked and fail". There are some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("it's advantages significantly... and are more convenient", "thousands of people died every year" instead of die, and "advantages of more convenience... are need to be addressed"). Articles and prepositions are also occasionally misused, such as "in country like Pakistan". Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To reach a higher standard, you must increase your control over complex sentence structures and ensure greater accuracy in verb tenses, articles, and agreement.
