Student answer (Band 5.0)
Driverless cars are no more an imagination, it's a reality. World already started experiencing these vehicles on roads with no drivers.
I think there are more advantages then disadvantages of these cars. We will be able to see more of safe driving, rules being followed and no traffic violations. AI will not have road rage and it will result in less accidents.
Yea it may take jobs of taxi drivers but will introduce a supervisor job who will be overseeing these cars constantly. We still cannot leave these cars on its own. Any emergency situation can result in disaster with these cars

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response falls well short of the word count requirement, as it contains only one hundred and two words, which is significantly below the minimum of two hundred and fifty words. Because of this severe under-length, the task is addressed only minimally. You do attempt to present a position by stating that there are more advantages than disadvantages, and you briefly touch upon safety and job impacts. However, these ideas remain extremely limited and under-developed, lacking the necessary extension, explanation, and concrete examples required to fully explore the prompt. To reach a higher level, you must write at least the minimum required length and expand significantly on your arguments regarding both benefits and drawbacks, ensuring each point is supported with detailed reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation in the text, with an introduction, a brief body paragraph, and a concluding thought, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are largely absent or inadequate, as seen in the abrupt transitions between sentences without linking words like 'furthermore', 'however', or 'consequently'. Paragraphing is also poorly managed, with the response split into short, choppy blocks of text rather than cohesive, fully developed paragraphs. To improve, you need to group related ideas into properly structured paragraphs and use a wider range of logical connectors to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments and establish a clear progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey your basic point about driverless vehicles. You attempt some topic-specific terms such as 'driverless cars', 'traffic violations', and 'road rage', but there are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'more of safe driving' instead of safer driving, and informal colloquialisms like 'Yea' which are inappropriate for an academic task. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the overall lexical range restricts your ability to discuss the topic with precision. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate a broader range of less common vocabulary and idiomatic phrases, while ensuring greater accuracy in word choice and maintaining an appropriate formal register.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You display a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few basic attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader, such as the punctuation error in the opening sentence ('imagination, it\'s'), incorrect article usage, and prepositional issues like 'on its own' when referring to multiple vehicles ('these cars'). Additionally, agreement errors occur, such as 'advantages then disadvantages' instead of 'than'. To improve, you need to demonstrate a greater variety of complex grammatical structures while improving your control over basic sentence construction, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement to ensure your sentences are accurate and clear.
