Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that in the future all cars, buses and trucks will become driverless.Driverless means without driver or self-driven.As per the increasing rate in progress of technology,it is seemed that this will possible. There will no person in the vehicle as a driver, the only person in the vehicle will as a passenger not as a driver.

It has many advantages and disadvantages too.The main advantage of the driverless vehicle is that these vehicles will not overspeed which reduce the rate of road accidents.Another advantages is that as nobody drive this car so person will not tire.

The main disadvantage of these vehicles is that it will reduce the jobs for drivers and make many persons jobless. The person who run his home by driving will become jobless which result in the lose of his source of earning. In present it is not invented yet and in future it may be happen as technology increases day by day.

I my opinion, the disadvantages of driverless vehicles overweigh the advantages because as it is machine with sensors,if any fault occur in the system the vehicle stop at the spot and person who is travelling in that vrehicle will become helpless as it is totally automatic car and not every person will become expert. As it will self-driven it may take the person on wrong route due to any error in its system. So,it has advantages as well as disadvantages too.But in my opion it will may have more disadvantages.so, I think advantages will not overweigh disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the topic by giving advantages and disadvantages and state your view that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. The points about reduced speeding, driver fatigue, and lost employment are relevant, while the concern about system faults and passengers being unable to respond gives some support to your position. However, the ideas are brief and under-developed: for example, you do not explain how driverless technology would prevent speeding, or provide a concrete example of a system failure. Your conclusion also becomes unclear when you write, “advantages will not overweigh disadvantages,” after saying the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. The response is 244 words, six words below the required minimum; develop your reasons further and make your final position consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, one on disadvantages, and a concluding opinion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are listed rather than connected and explained. Linking phrases such as “Another advantages,” “The main disadvantage,” and “So” are repetitive or awkward, while the final paragraph combines several concerns in one long sequence. The contrast between your stated view and the final sentence also weakens the overall progression. Use clearer topic sentences, develop one point at a time, and use referencing and linking expressions accurately to show how each reason supports your conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless,” “road accidents,” “sensors,” and “source of earning.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. For instance, “person will not tire” does not clearly express the intended benefit, and “overweigh” is not the appropriate verb for comparing advantages and disadvantages. There are also spelling errors such as “vrehicle” and “opion.” Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling carefully. Vocabulary such as “reduce driver fatigue,” “employment opportunities,” and “technical malfunction” would help express your points more clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional reasoning about what might happen “if any fault occur in the system.” However, the range is limited, and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “There will no person in the vehicle,” “it is seemed that this will possible,” and “the person in the vehicle will as a passenger.” Subject–verb agreement and verb forms are also problematic in “which reduce the rate” and “if any fault occur.” Punctuation and spacing around commas are inconsistent, and some sentences run together. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with correctly formed clauses and verbs.
