Student answer (Band 5.5)

Technology has revolutionised the world and make things simple and easy to do. With the advancement of technology, scientist has created many driverless cars. It has been expected that in future, normals cars will be replaced with driverless cars. Many people think that it is possitive development. In my opinion, driverless cars can be very helpful in future but we can't ignore the disadvantages of driverless cars.

First of all, I would like to talk about advantages of using driverless cars. There are many advantages of driverless cars like these cars can save our time. It will not required a driver to run this car hence people can do other things in the place of driving the car. Second advantage of this car will be 24/7 clock ability. These cars can work 24 hours in a days. For example it become difficult for driver to run car at midnight because of tiredness or sleepness. These cars will be operated by AI hence, these cars can run smoothly on roads without making mistakes.

Secondly, there some are disadvantages of using driverless cars. If there is any fault in car system, it can make accidents on roads. It can increase the risk of life endangerment if maintence of car will not be done timely. Futthermore, use of driverless cars can dcrease job oppurtunities. It can lead to lack of employment because many people all over ther world work as a driver.

In conclution, driverless cars can be beneficial if these will maintained properly. We should also think about its disadvantages as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: driverless vehicles could be helpful, but their disadvantages should not be ignored. The points about saving passengers’ time, operating continuously, system faults causing accidents, and reduced employment are relevant. However, the response does not directly decide whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages; the conclusion says they can be beneficial if maintained, without comparing their overall importance. Several ideas are also asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that AI cars can run “without making mistakes” needs qualification or support, and the employment point could explain how widespread the impact might be. Make your judgement explicit and develop the strongest reasons with clearer explanation or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Second,” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the main points. This gives the essay an overall coherent arrangement. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the advantages paragraph moves quickly from saving time to continuous operation without fully connecting or developing the ideas. Some linking and reference are unclear, as in “It will not required a driver to run this car hence people can do other things in the place of driving.” Use transitions that show the relationship between ideas, and make references such as “these cars” or “it” unambiguous. A conclusion that explicitly weighs both sides would also strengthen the overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless cars,” “AI,” “accidents,” “risk,” and “employment.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “job opportunities” and “life endangerment.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors are noticeable. Examples include “24/7 clock ability,” “sleepness,” “maintence,” and “dcrease”; these can make the intended meaning less clear or sound unnatural. Repetition of “driverless cars” and “these cars” also limits flexibility. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases, such as “operate around the clock” and “system malfunction,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “If there is any fault in car system, it can make accidents on roads.” The main message is generally recoverable, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “Technology has revolutionised the world and make things” has a verb-form error, while “scientist has created” has a number-agreement problem. Other examples include “It will not required,” “there some are disadvantages,” and “these will maintained properly.” Articles and plural forms are also often missing, as in “in a days” and “in car system.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, and article use before adding more complex structures.
