Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many cars, buses and trucks are controlled by Artificial Intelligence. In the future these vehicles will be driverless, only passengers are travelling inside them. I do not think, in the future the advanatges of driverless vehicles surpass the disadvantages.

As we know, in recent years many vehicles are controlled by AI. Many companies are producing automated and advanced technology vehicles. Because of automatic vehicles people do not have to drive long hours, they can relax their time without worrying about driving. For instance, Tesla which is a very popular company in the world are manufacturing automatic vehicles. They had already produced many automatic cars and working on buses and trucks, where people are using it in their daily life. Automatic vehicles make people's life more easy and comfortable, they do not need to be worried about it. As a result, in the future only passengers are travelling inside buses.

On the other hand, although automatic vehicles have many advantages, they also have several disadvantages, which even lead to death. Automatic vehicles do not need any driver, it can easily driven by AI, while in some cases if automatic buses stop working and do not operate, it can cause a dangerous accident. Which directly affects the people and passengers travelling inside them. Also in trucks, if they were carrying a valuable goods, this directly effects the company's economy. So, because of technology failure people have to sacrifice their life, which is nothing infront of these several advantages.

In conclusion, I think in the future technology may replace human involvement in cars, buses and trucks, which will be very comfortable and convenient for them, but their disadvantges may damage people's health even may lead to death.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear view that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and you address both sides with relevant points: passengers may relax, while system failures could cause accidents and financial losses. The Tesla example also helps illustrate current development. However, the advantages paragraph mainly repeats that travel will be comfortable and convenient, without explaining these benefits in much depth. The risks are also asserted rather than fully supported: explain how a failure might occur, why a human driver could reduce the danger, or provide a specific example. Your conclusion restates your position, but the essay would answer the question more fully if it directly weighed the benefits against the risks and explained why the latter are more significant.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” make the broad direction easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive: the benefits paragraph moves from current AI use to Tesla and then repeats that vehicles make life easier, without developing a distinct sequence of reasons. Some linking is also inaccurate or awkward, particularly the sentence beginning “Which directly affects,” which is not connected grammatically to the preceding idea. Use clearer topic sentences and develop each point in a logical order, with references that make it obvious what “it” and “them” refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless,” “Artificial Intelligence,” “automated,” and “technology failure.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “automatic vehicles,” “people,” and “advantages.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “relax their time,” “a valuable goods,” and “sacrifice their life,” which can make the intended meaning less precise. Spelling errors such as “advanatges,” “disadvantges,” and “infront” also affect the impression of control. Build a wider set of precise terms for benefits and risks, and check collocations and spelling during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although” and “if,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement: “Tesla … are manufacturing” should use a singular verb, and “it can easily driven” is missing an auxiliary. There are also problems with sentence boundaries, as in “Which directly affects the people,” and with tense and clause construction in “They had already produced … and working.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the meaning. Practise forming complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, auxiliary verbs, and consistent tense. More accurate complex sentences would help you express cause and contrast clearly.
