Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, technology is developing rapidly, and driverless vehicles are becoming a realistic possiblility. It is predicted that cars, buses and trucks will operate without human drivers, with people travelling only as passengers. Although this development could create some problems, I believe that the advantage would outweigh disadvantages.
One of the major advantgaes of driverless vehicle is increased safetly. Human drivers can make mistakes because of tiredness, stress, distraction or careless driving. In contrast, automated vehicle can follow traffic rules and used sensorsto detect vehicle and obstacles. As a result, the number of accidents caused by human error could potentially be reduced. Another benefit is greater convinence. Passengers could use their travelling time to work, study, read or relax instead of concentrating on driving. This could be particularly useful for elderly people and those who cannot drive themseleves.
However, there are some disadvantages. Firstly, driveless technology may be expensive, especially when it is first introduced. People may have to pay more vehicles equipped with advanced computer technology and sensors. Secondly, there could be technical problem. If system fails or is affected by a software error, passengers could be placed in a dangerous condition. In addition many professional drivers, such as taxi, bus and truck drivers, could lose their jobs as compaines replace them with automated vehicles.
In conclusion, driverless vehicles may cause unemployment and create technological risks, but they could provide safer and more convenient transportation. Therefore, I believe the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh their disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. You address both sides with relevant points, including reduced human-error accidents and greater convenience, balanced against cost, technical failure and job losses. The safety and convenience points are explained with examples of how passengers might use their time, while the disadvantages receive less development; for instance, the risk of a software failure is mentioned but not illustrated or explored. The response therefore covers the task, though some ideas are more fully supported than others. It also falls five words short of the required minimum. To strengthen the response, extend the less-developed points with a specific example and explain why the benefits outweigh the risks overall.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion that restates your view. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “In contrast,” “However,” “Firstly” and “In conclusion” help show how the points relate. This organisation is effective, although some linking is rather mechanical, particularly the repeated listing of points with “Another benefit” and “Secondly.” The final paragraph summarises the argument but does not add much synthesis explaining how the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Use a wider range of natural links between cause, example and consequence, and make references such as “this development” or “these risks” precise so the connections between ideas feel more integrated.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “automated,” “sensor,” “obstacles,” “software error” and “unemployment,” and the meaning remains clear throughout. There are also useful phrases such as “human error” and “advanced computer technology.” However, spelling and word-form errors are noticeable, including “possiblility,” “advantgaes,” “safetly,” “convinence” and “driveless.” Some expressions are also imprecise or awkward, such as “placed in a dangerous condition” and “pay more vehicles.” These slips limit the accuracy and flexibility of the vocabulary, even though they rarely obstruct understanding. Proofread spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations, such as “put at risk” and “pay more for vehicles,” while varying repeated general terms like “benefit” and “problem.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although this development could create some problems” and a conditional clause beginning “If system fails.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the paragraph structure supports readability. Some grammatical errors remain, however. Articles and plurals are missing or inconsistent in phrases such as “the advantage would outweigh disadvantages,” “driverless vehicle” and “technical problem.” There are also errors in verb form and sentence construction, for example “automated vehicle can follow traffic rules and used sensors” and “People may have to pay more vehicles.” Punctuation is occasionally faulty, as in “stress, distraction.” Check articles, plural agreement and parallel verb forms, and proofread punctuation to improve accuracy while retaining your range of sentence structures.
