Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the topic by giving advantages such as fewer accidents and greater comfort, and disadvantages including cost, technical failure and reduced employment for drivers. However, the task asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and your position is not clearly established: the conclusion calls driverless vehicles helpful but then notes that they have problems, without comparing the two sides. Most points are listed rather than explained or supported with relevant examples, so the response only partially develops the task. The response is also 4 words below the 250-word minimum; the 10 words copied from the prompt were not counted. To improve, state your view clearly, explain the consequences of your strongest points, and add a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To commence with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is limited because several ideas are placed in a list without clear links or explanation. The advantages paragraph moves from accidents to time, traffic, pollution, comfort and young people, while repeated references to “driverless vehicles” make the writing feel mechanical. Some connections are unclear, particularly “They can save people time, so people focus on their work” and the final contrast in the conclusion. Group related points and use clearer referencing and linking between cause and result.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “accidents,” “pollution,” “expensive,” “technology” and “job,” so the main subject is generally identifiable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “driverless vehicles” and “helpful” used repeatedly, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate. For example, “there are plethora of benefits” is not a natural expression, and “Many multitudes do not afford” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “technolohy,” “vahicles,” “formest” and “depand” also make the writing less precise. Build a more accurate range for discussing safety, affordability, employment and system failures, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “driverless vahicles is very helpful,” “which people can relax,” and “they also enjoy to travel in them.” The sentence beginning “Many multitudes do not afford…” also lacks a clear grammatical construction. Commas are sometimes used where a full stop or conjunction is needed, as in the advantages paragraph. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause structures, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
