Student answer (Band 5.5)

Over the past few decades, there is an advancement in technology. Therefore, it is possible that in the future all four wheeler automobiles will be automatic. Thus, only passengers will travel in these vehicles. The bnefits of this development are overlapping the drawbacks which I will discuss in the enumerated paragraphs.

To commence with, there are various pros of this trend. First and formost, people can use leisure time in reading books, listening to music and sleep so that after their journey they feel energetic and relaxed. To explain it, it is very monotonous task to drive vehicles at longer distances. Secondly, it is very useful for older people and people with disablities. Nowadays, people are busy in work schedules so they do not have much time to take their parents to places where they want to go so in these situations these methods are proved fruitfull. There are some people who are affraid of driving so driverless cars help them a lot. Moreover, automatic vehicles seriously obey the traffic rules and regulations which decreas the amount of accidents and traffic jams.

On the other hand, this trend put detrimental effect on the life of people who earn money through running cabs and taxes. Thus, it is very difficult for them to fulfill their basic need for living. Drivers know more about their profession so it is very hard for them to learn new skill and run new business. Another drawback is, these kind of vehicles do not understand language and emotions. As a result, passangers will feel boardom while travelling in emotionless machines. It is very hard to keep quitewhile travelling so presence of driver is must to talk about various issues.

In conclusion, although this development is useful for older people as travelling is become more easier for them now, yet it affect more on the business of cab and taxi drivers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, especially in the introduction. Relevant advantages include allowing passengers to relax, helping older people and those who are afraid to drive, and potentially reducing accidents. You also identify job losses for taxi and cab drivers. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that automated vehicles will obey traffic rules and reduce accidents needs support, and the discussion of passengers feeling bored or needing a driver to talk to is less persuasive. The conclusion focuses mainly on older people and driver employment, so it does not fully reinforce your comparison of the overall advantages and disadvantages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” help distinguish the opposing view. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated sequencing phrases such as “First,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover.” Some ideas within paragraphs are joined without a clear relationship, particularly the shift from older people to people who fear driving. The conclusion also narrows the discussion rather than drawing together the main points on both sides. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting explanation directly to its main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “detrimental effect,” “traffic rules and regulations,” and “fulfill their basic need for living.” These attempts help communicate ideas about convenience, safety, and employment. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “formost,” “disablities,” “fruitfull,” “affraid,” and “decreas” are misspelled, while “overlapping the drawbacks” is not a natural way to express your position. Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “four wheeler automobiles” and “emotionless machines.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; a smaller number of natural, precise phrases will be more effective than awkwardly ambitious wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “so that,” “which,” and “although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, errors occur across sentence patterns and verb forms. For example, “this trend put detrimental effect” needs a correctly formed verb and article, while “these kind of vehicles do not understand” has a number-agreement problem. The opening “there is an advancement” and the conclusion’s “travelling is become more easier” also show difficulty controlling tense and comparative forms. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences clearer.
