Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the coming years, all vehicles such as cars, buses, and trucks will be driven without drivers. The passanger will be sitting in the vehicle without any driver. In this essay, I will describe the advantages and disadvantages of this breakthrough in the future society.

On one hand, there are some advantages of driverless vehicles. First, we will not wait for drivers to take us to our destination as we will just order the car and it will take us to the place. This will save our time and energy. Second, the price will be fixed and we will pay that with the help of automatic system as the vehicles will be driven without the driver and we can enjoy our own choice music on the way.For example, I can enjoy my ride with music and dancing in the vehicle while going to my destination.

On the other side, there are some disadvantages as well. First, driverless vehicles are not that much trustworthy to take us to the right destination safely and they will not understand out feelings to take us quickly to that place. Second, if there is some unfortunate accident happen on the way, so there will be no human to call emergency for help as machines are not that much reliable sometimes. For example, once I was coming to my hometown and suddenly we have an accident and it was the driver who called the emergency and help me out.

In conclusion, I will say that driverless vehicles of future such as cars, buses, and trucks will be really amazing but still we should keep the consequences and importance of human while driving any vehicle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both benefits and drawbacks and give relevant examples, including the convenience of ordering a vehicle and the role a human driver played after an accident. However, the task asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and your position is not clearly established. The conclusion calls driverless vehicles “really amazing” but then stresses the importance of humans, without stating which side is stronger. Several points are also under-developed: for instance, fixed prices and enjoying music are mentioned, but their significance is not explained, while concerns about safety and emergency response could be supported with clearer reasoning. State your judgement directly in the introduction and conclusion, then develop the strongest reasons for it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First,” “Second,” and “On the other side” help readers follow the main points. This organisation supports a coherent response. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the point about fixed prices moves quickly to enjoying music, without explaining how these ideas connect. The accident example is relevant, but its connection to the broader concern about driverless vehicles could be made more explicit. Use a wider range of linking expressions and refer clearly back to each main claim so the argument develops more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless vehicles,” “destination,” “automatic system,” and “emergency.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “consequences” and “breakthrough.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make meaning less clear. Examples include “the passanger” (also misspelled), “our own choice music,” “understand out feelings,” and “call emergency for help.” Repeated general words such as “place,” “thing,” and “amazing” also limit precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing safety, convenience, and technology, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use simple sentences and attempt longer structures with clauses, for example, “as we will just order the car and it will take us to the place.” This shows some range, and the main message is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “if there is some unfortunate accident happen,” “we have an accident,” and “the passanger will be sitting.” There are also run-on sentences, such as the sentence ending “on the way.For example,” where a space and clearer sentence boundary are needed. Practise accurate past-tense narration and conditional structures, and proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly punctuated form.
