Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the last few decades technology has experienced an unprecedented development. That time is not far away when all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. There has been an ongoing debate about whether this advancement has more advantages or disadvantages.I believe that driverless vehicles present both challenges and opportunities.
Considering the fast paced world ,driverless vehicles will be the ultimate necessity in the future .As almost everything is being automated, vehicles too need to be according to the changing dynamics of technology.Driverless vehicles have many advantages. To begin with it will be cost effective. There will be no dependence on human drivers .Also vehicles without drivers will be more efficient and will take passengers on their destinations in much less time.
Several countries already have autonomous vehicles. For instance USA,China and Japan are making tremendous progress in the field of autonomous vehicles .In UAE, people are using autonomous taxis for their everyday commute.
On the other hand, driverless vehicles are not always the best option .Vehicles can lose direction or exceed the speed limit without a man controlling them. These vehicles can cause major road accidents and lead to fatal consequences.
Additionally ,many individuals are already at the risk of losing their jobs due to AI,autonomous vehicles will add to this dilemma.
Consequently, there is no doubt that technological advancements play a vital role in making lives better and convenient but at the same time it can generate many issues for the mankind. In my opinion ,driverless cars should be encouraged but too much dependence on them will create chaos in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the topic and give a position: driverless vehicles offer benefits, but overdependence may create problems. Relevant points include efficiency, possible road accidents, and job losses, with a brief reference to autonomous taxis in the UAE. However, the task specifically asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and your conclusion does not clearly weigh them or state which side is stronger. Several claims, such as vehicles taking passengers to destinations “in much less time,” need explanation or support. The response is also 3 words below the 250-word minimum; the 8 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop and compare your main points, then make your judgement explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a brief example, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “Additionally” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is uneven: the country examples form a very short standalone paragraph and are not clearly connected to the claim about efficiency or safety. Some linking is mechanical, and the final sentence combines several ideas without clearly resolving the comparison asked in the prompt. Build each body paragraph around one main point, explain it, and connect the example directly to that point. This would make the overall argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “autonomous vehicles,” “automated,” “commute,” and “fatal consequences,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “ongoing debate” and “changing dynamics of technology.” However, some expressions are vague or unnatural, including “take passengers on their destinations” and “for the mankind.” Repetition of “driverless vehicles” and “vehicles” also limits flexibility, while phrases such as “ultimate necessity” and “create chaos in the society” are broad rather than precise. Aim for more accurate collocations and specific wording when describing benefits and risks; this will make your argument clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a time clause (“That time is not far away when…”) and a contrastive conclusion beginning “Consequently.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “To begin with it will be cost effective” has an unclear pronoun reference, and “Additionally, many individuals… due to AI, autonomous vehicles…” joins two independent ideas with only a comma. There are also missing spaces after punctuation and inconsistent comma use. Practise separating complete ideas with a full stop or semicolon, and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries. More consistently controlled complex sentences would improve accuracy and readability.
