Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary era, with the development in the technology, everything became more advanced and easier. In the future, all the transport system will be driverless, even just travellers will be a part of that driverless vehicles. I partially agree with this viewpoint because these vehicles will make our lives convenient and independent, if no risk will be associated with this.

On the one hand, the first and the formost advantage is that there will be no chance of accidents. Because, computer systems and sensors would recognize every kind of danger associated with their proper functioning.

Second main advantage is that, elderly and disabled people will travel easily without finding any difficulty while driving. Thirdly, travellers will enjoy their journey by reading novels, books and entertaining the fascinating nature of the world. Last but not the least advantage is that, these driverless cars will reduce the traffic congestion. Computer systems will help the cars to run smoothly on roads.

On the other hand, there are some drawbacks also. Firstly, all the professional drivers of the buses, cars and trucks will lose their jobs, if driverless cars became more common. Their businesses will be diminished badly. Secondly, computer systems and sensors, sometimes may fails and it may cause accidents. Thirdly, people can become more lazy, becuase they totally depens upon the driverless cars for their long journeys. This also reduce their energy level and they usually get tired.

In conclusion, although driverless cars have some disadvantages. If all the computer systems and sensors are advanced enough, that there is no chance of any accident or these cars cannot be used in a large amount, then it

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and give relevant reasons, including improved access for elderly and disabled passengers, reduced congestion, job losses, and possible system failures. Your opening says you “partially agree,” but the conclusion does not clearly decide whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages; it ends with an unfinished conditional idea, so your overall position remains uncertain. Several points are asserted rather than explained: for example, you say driverless vehicles will prevent accidents, but do not consider how sensor or software failures might affect that claim. Develop fewer points with specific explanations or examples, and state your judgement clearly in both the introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and an attempted conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “On the one hand,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the list of points. However, progression is often mechanical because ideas are presented mainly as a sequence of numbered advantages and drawbacks, with limited explanation linking them. Some connections are unclear, particularly the final sentence, which stops before completing its point. The conclusion also does not effectively bring the discussion together. Use linking expressions more selectively, connect each reason to its consequence, and ensure the final paragraph gives a complete, direct answer to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “traffic congestion,” “sensors,” “professional drivers,” and “elderly and disabled people,” which makes the main ideas understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “associated with their proper functioning.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, as in “the first and the formost advantage,” “their businesses will be diminished badly,” and “depens upon.” Spelling errors such as “becuase” and “formost” are noticeable, and repeated use of “advantage” and “driverless cars” limits flexibility. Choose more natural collocations and check spelling; for example, describe jobs as “lost” and say that people “rely on” these vehicles.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if no risk will be associated with this” and a contrast between advantages and disadvantages. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “everything became more advanced,” “all the transport system will be,” “sensors… may fails,” and “This also reduce their energy level.” The conclusion is also incomplete, leaving its grammatical relationship unfinished. Practise consistent future forms, subject–verb agreement, articles and plural nouns, and punctuation around subordinate clauses. Aim first to produce complete, accurate sentences before adding more complex structures.
