Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, technology has significant developments in the field of inventions and it is possible that in future all the cars, buses and trucks will be driverless and the only people inside these transports will be passengers. It may be possible in the future that advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvanatages. Let us further delve into the topic.

To begin with, the advanatges of travelling in the driverless vehicles and it has numerous benefits because it reduces the body stress and concentration consumed while driving. However, it makes people more independent who does not know how to drive and always rely on the others for travelling. In recent years, technology already make driving so easy and less stressful through adding new features.

On the other hand, it also has some disadvantages. For instance, our roads conditions are not suitable for this type of technology because of the pot holes and some roads always under the construction which is not updated and mention on the map, while driverless vehicles are completely depend on robots and mechanical system without the involement of the humanbeings. In result, it is dangerous to put the passengers life in risk. Also, even a single glitch in the coordination system of the vehicle which is not corrected at right time makes the situation more worse.

In conclusion, I agree that it has both merits and demerits. Consequently, I believe that in future technology work on it and make their system more advance which can handle all kind of situations very smoothly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the topic by presenting benefits and risks, and your conclusion indicates a generally positive view of future driverless technology. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says the advantages may outweigh the disadvantages, while the conclusion mainly predicts that technology will improve, rather than directly weighing the two sides. The benefits—reduced stress and greater independence for people who cannot drive—are relevant but briefly explained. The road-condition and system-glitch concerns are more specific, yet their consequences and relative importance are not fully developed. To strengthen the response, state your judgement clearly and consistently, then explain why the benefits or drawbacks are more significant, using a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “To begin with, the advantages … and it has numerous benefits” does not form a clear progression, and “However” introduces a point that appears to support the benefits rather than contrast with them. The conclusion also does not clearly resolve the comparison. Use links to show precise relationships between ideas, and organise each body paragraph around a clear claim followed by explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “driverless vehicles,” “concentration,” “roads conditions,” “construction,” and “coordination system,” so the reader can understand the main subject and concerns. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “a single glitch.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural: “body stress,” “transports,” “pot holes,” and “more worse” are examples. Misspellings such as “advanatges,” “disadvanatages,” and “involement” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing safety, accessibility, and reliability, and check spelling and common word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which is not updated and mention on the map” and a conditional idea about a system glitch. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, and articles sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “the advantages … and it has numerous benefits” is an incomplete or poorly joined construction; “technology already make” has incorrect subject–verb agreement; and “who does not know” does not agree with the plural “people.” The final sentence, “technology work on it and make their system,” also has verb-form and agreement problems. Practise building complete sentences and checking each verb against its subject.
