Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, technology is developing rapidly, and driverless vehicles are becoming popular. It is predicted that all cars, buses and trucks will become automatic without drivers. Although this development could create some problems, I believe that the advantages would outweigh disadvantages.

To begin with, one major advantage of diverless vehicles is safety. This is because human drivers can make mistakes because of stress, sleep, tiredness, careless driving and obstructing traffic rules. In contrast, sensor vehicles will be a head forward without any distractions they follow all traffic rules, no stress and more careful while driving. And another benifits while travelling in driverless vehicles a person can take rest, read books or spend time with family without any stress and driving pressure.

However, one significant disadvantage is unemployment. This is because, most of the cab drivers, taxi drivers, company drivers loose their job because most of the companies replace automatic vehicles instead of paying to drivers. Secondly, if any technical errors or software errors will causes that leads to more dangerous. For example, vehicle with malfuntion of software causes obstruction of traffic rules, go in different routes. This causes accidents, loss of life who travelling in that vehicle.

In my opinion some of the disadvantages outcome but advantages overweigh more. I think, safety is more important than everything because human drivers have a more risk to face accidents it causes loose of entire families so usage of driverless vehicles helps to overcome this errors and follow more saftey precautions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear view that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and you address both sides with relevant points: improved safety and passenger convenience, alongside job losses and software failures. However, the support is limited, so the ideas remain under-developed. For example, you list driver errors and say automated vehicles follow rules, but do not explain how their systems would prevent accidents or acknowledge that technology can also fail. The unemployment point would be stronger with a brief explanation of how affected workers might be supported or retrained. Your conclusion repeats the safety argument rather than drawing together the comparison. The response is also three words below the required minimum, so it does not fully meet the task instructions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In my opinion” makes the direction of the argument easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of an organised response and shows some movement towards more flexible cohesion. However, links within sentences are sometimes awkward or incomplete, as in “In contrast, sensor vehicles will be a head forward without any distractions they follow all traffic rules.” The advantage paragraph also joins several points with “And another benefits,” while the conclusion repeats earlier claims. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each example explicitly to the main argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless vehicles,” “unemployment,” “technical errors,” and “software errors.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “diverless,” “benifits,” “loose their job,” and “malfuntion.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “obstructing traffic rules” and “a head forward.” These issues fit a limited but minimally adequate range: the reader can generally understand your meaning, but errors sometimes interrupt it. Build a bank of accurate collocations for safety, employment, and technology, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although this development could create some problems” and explanations introduced by “This is because.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. For example, “if any technical errors or software errors will causes” has an incorrect conditional structure and subject–verb agreement; “a person can take rest” also has an article and verb-pattern problem. Several sentences run together, particularly “they follow all traffic rules, no stress and more careful while driving,” and the final paragraph contains incomplete or poorly connected clauses. Practise accurate conditional forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then use shorter sentences where needed to express each point clearly.
