Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the future the automobiles like cars, buses, and trucks will be runs without drivers, the persons who sits inside the vehicles will be only the passengers. This technology have advantages and also disadvantages, according to me it is good technology for our society because this technology improves the safety of people and time saving .
To begin with, first and foremost advantage is that it will improve safety, to explain it driverless vehicles reduces the proportion of accidents caused by human errors ,such as disobey the rules and overspeeding. Second is it saves lot of time because while travelling people can relax, do their works . For example, japan has launched the driverless cars which are very convenience for old age people and also for disable people.
On the other hand, driverless cars will be very high cost because these are very expensive to develop and have high maintainence ,everyone cannot affords these types of cars and other vehicles. Moreover the unemployment will be rise because professional drivers such as taxi and truck drivers my lost their jobs , they cannot complete theirs dreams if they get jobless.
In conclusion, driverless vehicle offers various advantages like improves safety ,time saving and best for disable people .However it also have disadvantages such as, high cost and increase unemployment rate. Therefore this technology should be developed to ensure safety and reliability.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear view that driverless vehicles are beneficial, and you address both advantages and disadvantages. Safety, time savings, accessibility for older and disabled people, cost, and job losses are all relevant points. However, the position is not fully resolved: the conclusion lists both sides and recommends developing the technology, but does not clearly explain why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Several ideas are asserted rather than developed; for example, the Japan example is brief and does not show how the technology works or support the safety argument. The response also falls short of the required minimum length, which limits the space available to explain and support your reasons. Develop each main point with a clear explanation or specific example, and make the comparison explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph for advantages, a paragraph for disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, particularly “To begin with, first and foremost,” which repeats the same function. Some connections between ideas are unclear: the Japan example follows the time-saving point but mainly concerns accessibility. The conclusion also repeats the list of points rather than drawing them together to answer the comparison in the question. Use fewer, more precise linking expressions, group related support with each claim, and make the final paragraph show how the two sides compare.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless vehicles,” “human errors,” “professional drivers,” and “unemployment.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “overspeeding” and “reliability.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response awkward: “high maintainence,” “cannot affords,” and “complete theirs dreams” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “convenience” where an adjective is needed and “disable” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations for discussing technology, costs, safety, and employment, and check word forms and spelling during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “the automobiles … will be runs” has an incorrect verb form, while “the persons who sits” has a subject–verb agreement error. “This technology have advantages” also shows agreement problems, and the opening sentence joins several clauses without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and checking each clause for a clear subject and verb. Then use a wider range of sentence structures while keeping them controlled.
