Student answer (Band 5.5)

As far as this topic is concerned, i would like to say that the use of driverless vehicles has always been debatable and now has become more controversial, with many people claiming that it is beneficial while others reject this notion. The substantial influence of this technology has sparked the controversy over the potential advantage or disadvantages. From my prospective, the advantages of driverless outweigh the disadvantages. This essay will further elaborate my views and provide relevant examples.

Analyzing the statement further, the primery reason is that many drivers may lose their jobs when buses, trucks and cars become fully automated. This could create financial difficulties for people who depend on driving for their income. Categoricully discussing, it cannot be ignorad that the main reason is that the risks could be reduced through strict safety regulations, regular maintenance and proper testing before these vehicles are used widely as it has far-reaching consequences driverless cars.

Moving further, it is pertinent to mention that it is the basic duty of the government to provide a safe and stable society for the betterment of the public. It is imperative for the authorities concerned to look into the factors behind this issue and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of driverless vehicles. The government should introduce strict safety regulations, ensure regular technical inspections and provide alternative employment opportunities for drivers who lose their jobs.

To encapsulate, although driverless vehicles have some disadvantages, I firmly believe that their advantages outweigh their disadvantages. In short, I would like to appeal to the learned figures and government authorities to come forward, focus their attention on this issue and launch effective initiatives to ensure the safe use of driverless vehicles across society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is stated clearly in the introduction and conclusion: you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. You also identify a relevant disadvantage—drivers may lose their jobs—and mention safety as an important consideration. However, the response only partially develops the comparison required by the question. The body paragraphs focus mainly on government regulation and employment support, without explaining the main advantages of driverless vehicles, such as fewer accidents, improved mobility, or more efficient transport. The sentence about risks being reduced is also unclear about whether this is a disadvantage or a benefit. Develop and support both sides, then explain directly why the benefits are more significant.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can follow its general topic. However, progression between ideas is limited: the first body paragraph introduces job losses, then shifts to safety regulations without a clear link, while the next paragraph largely repeats the call for government action. Phrases such as “Analyzing the statement further,” “Moving further,” and “To encapsulate” make the organisation feel formulaic rather than showing precise relationships between points. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main argument, and connect supporting explanations directly to it. A clearer sequence—disadvantages, advantages, and a comparison—would make the reasoning easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt some less common expressions, including “fully automated,” “financial difficulties,” “strict safety regulations,” and “alternative employment opportunities.” These choices help communicate the topic, although several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “from my prospective,” “Categoricully discussing,” and “the potential advantage or disadvantages.” Spelling errors such as “primery” and “ignorad” also reduce precision. Some formal phrases, including “learned figures,” do not sound natural in this context. Aim for accurate, direct wording rather than adding elaborate expressions: this will make your argument clearer while retaining an appropriately formal style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “although driverless vehicles have some disadvantages” and a relative clause in “people who depend on driving for their income.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors affect clarity. For example, “the advantages of driverless outweigh” is missing a noun after “driverless,” and “as it has far-reaching consequences driverless cars” is an incomplete or poorly connected construction. There is also a missing space after the full stop in “notion. The,” and the opening “i” should be capitalised. Practise checking sentence boundaries and ensuring each clause has a clear grammatical connection.
