Student answer (Band 4.5)

Today is an age of science and technology. Science has played an important role in every part of our society. Nowadays, new electric cars have been introduced which are more enviromental friendly and energy sufficient. It is highly possible that, in the near future, the cars will be driverless and the people travelling inside these vehicles will only be passengers. As far as my opinion is concerned, i strongly agree that its advantages will not be greater then its disadvantages. There are reasons for my opinion and now I will that reasons.

The first main disadvantage of driverless cars is hacking. Some people will also be able to use these electric cars for hacking purposes like stealing someone's bank account detail's or someone's personal information. For example, if someone sits in an electric car, it is possible that the hacker hack's the car because , as you know that the car is electric. So, at first he will hack the car and then by using the technology of car, he will be able to hack the indivoidual's mobile and after hacking mobile, he will steal his personal information and then later blackmail him/her for money and other purposes.

Another disadvantage of driverless cars is damage. If there is a lot a rain on any normal day. Then it is possible that the car get damage and it is also highly possible that its system will turn off and doors become lock. It will cause many health problems like asthma. some people will hack them for performing accident to kill someone.

So, in conclusion, i would say that we have to use these cars saf

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear opinion that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and you identify two relevant concerns: hacking and vehicle failure in heavy rain. However, the response addresses the question only partially because it does not explain any advantages or directly compare the two sides, despite the task asking whether advantages outweigh disadvantages. The examples are also under-developed or unclear: the hacking scenario moves from a car to a passenger’s phone and blackmail without explaining how driverless technology enables this, while the rain example does not establish why autonomous vehicles would be especially vulnerable. The conclusion is unfinished, so it does not reinforce your position. To improve, discuss at least one plausible benefit, explain both sides with realistic supporting detail, and complete the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic essay shape, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and an attempted conclusion. The two body paragraphs each focus on a disadvantage, and signposts such as “The first main disadvantage” and “Another disadvantage” help identify the topics. However, progression is limited: the introduction promises reasons but does not clearly preview them, and there is no paragraph considering advantages or weighing them against the disadvantages. Some links are mechanical or confusing, particularly the repeated sequence of “then” in the hacking example and the abrupt shift from rain-related failure to people hacking vehicles. The final sentence stops at “we have to use these cars saf,” leaving the ending incomplete. Organise the essay around a clear comparison and use complete, logically connected explanations within each paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “driverless,” “hacking,” “personal information” and “health problems,” so the reader can identify your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the examples difficult to follow. For instance, “energy sufficient” is not a natural description of cars, “a lot a rain” is unclear, and “performing accident” does not express the intended idea naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “enviromental” and “indiv oidual's” (written as “indiv oidual's” in the response), alongside repeated use of “car” and “hack.” Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for example, describe a vehicle as “energy-efficient” and say that someone might “cause a collision.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if someone sits in an electric car,” and most of the intended meaning can be followed. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences. Examples include “it is possible that the car get damage,” where the verb form is faulty, and “the car get damage and it is also highly possible that its system will turn off and doors become lock,” which has problems with agreement and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “If there is a lot a rain on any normal day. Then it is possible…”. Capitalisation of “i” is inconsistent, and the conclusion is incomplete. Practise accurate conditional clauses, agreement and complete sentence construction before extending sentences.
