Student answer (Band 5.5)
In future, the cars, buses and trucks will travel based on their own intelligence, there will be no need for a physical driver. People will only sit in their vehicles as passengers. Although the advancement in automobile industry promises several benefits, it also has many disadvantages. I believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages as people are more involved in deadly accidents. The machines work precisely and do not make errors.
One major advantage of driveless cars is that it will operate without any physical person, machines are designed to work precisely. Increasing number of accidents happening are because or wreckless driving, using phone while on road, dozzing during nights. All these factors are only related to humans, machines are much effective than humans. For instance, while driving a car at night, any one can sleep because of fatigue and cause major accident while if car is driving based on artifical intelligence there are much less chances of an accident.
One the other hand, it also comes with many disasters. Although machines can work precisely and effortlessly than humans, a small technical error can destroy everything. Making driverless cars also depends on humans, as the manufacturers can also make mistakes while makng them. For efficent use if these vehicles, strong backup system is needed in case of malfunction.
Overall, driverless cars have risk of technical problems but humans are more involved in causing major accidents on roads. By having a strong backup system to prevent these auto driving vehicles to cause error, a greater future can be made.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and you address both sides of the question. The discussion of human causes of accidents, such as fatigue and phone use, is relevant, and the example of a driver falling asleep helps illustrate your main point. You also acknowledge technical malfunction and the need for a backup system. However, the advantages are developed more fully than the disadvantages, which are mainly stated rather than explained; for example, you do not show what kinds of harm a technical error could cause or how likely these risks are. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each point and support the comparison between human and machine safety more carefully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a concluding position. The progression from human driving risks to possible technical failures is easy to follow, and phrases such as “One the other hand” signal a contrast. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence joins two complete ideas with a comma, and the first body paragraph moves quickly from accident causes to the example without fully linking the reasoning. The conclusion repeats the main position but introduces the backup-system idea without developing it earlier. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and make sure each paragraph develops one central point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “driverless cars,” “technical error,” “malfunction,” and “backup system,” so the reader can understand the main discussion. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “fatigue” and “artificial intelligence.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated general words such as “machines,” “humans,” and “accidents,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations. For example, “disasters” is too strong and imprecise for the risks described, while “work precisely” does not fully express the intended idea of reliable operation. Spelling errors such as “wreckless,” “dozzing,” and “efficent” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise transport and safety vocabulary and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession with “Although” and a conditional example beginning “while if.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence forms are not controlled, particularly where clauses are joined: “In future, the cars, buses and trucks will travel based on their own intelligence, there will be no need…” is a comma splice. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, such as “One major advantage … is that it will operate,” where the reference shifts from plural vehicles to “it,” and “there are much less chances,” where the quantity phrase is not formed correctly. Review clause boundaries, subject–verb agreement, and singular/plural consistency to make complex sentences clearer.
