Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, with the rapid development of society, self driven vehicle carrying only passengers has become one of the most widely discussed issues around the world. While this development offers numerous advantages, it also presents several drawbacks. This essay will discuss both the advantages and disadvantages before concluding that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
To begin with, one significant advantage of driverless vehicles is reduction in accidents. This is because majority of the accidents happened by humans are due to lack of attentive driving which is caused by several factors for example multitasking while driving or driving recklessly.another prime benifit is less trafic violations because automated means of transport does not rely under human supervisons which disable the cause and reason for trafic violations. Therefore, this can significantly improve the smooth traffic flow.
Despite these benefits, this development also has some drawbacks.to start with one of the biggest demerit of self driven automobiles are accountibilty and responsibilty. who is held accountable in an accident the owner, manufacturer or integrated ai system. The most obvious downside is system error or virus attack.cyber secuirty integrated system is required to ensure safety. In today's fast-paced world malfacture viruses and cyber attacks are very common to prevent from it manufacturer must install high alert safety features in automobiles. In conclusion, although this development has certain disadvantages, I believe its advantages far outweigh them because of convenient and efficent automated vehicles can reduce effort safe time and consider to be much more safer as compared to man driven vehicles.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the question and state a clear view in the introduction and conclusion: “the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.” Accident reduction and fewer traffic violations are relevant benefits, while accountability and cyberattacks are pertinent concerns. However, the ideas are only briefly explained: the accident point lists possible causes but does not show how automation would prevent them, and the disadvantages are not weighed directly against the benefits. The conclusion adds convenience and saving time, but these points are not developed in the body. The response is also four words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your position. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example and make the comparison between advantages and disadvantages more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “Despite these benefits,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. For example, the discussion moves from accountability to virus attacks and then to manufacturers’ safety features without clearly connecting these points. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and punctuation problems—such as missing spaces after full stops—interrupt the flow. Organise each body paragraph around one central claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point. Clearer links between the ideas would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “driverless vehicles,” “traffic violations,” “accountability,” and “cyber attacks,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, the range is uneven, and inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable, sometimes making the reader pause: examples include “benifit,” “trafic,” “accountibilty,” and “malfacture viruses.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “does not rely under human supervisons” and “reduce effort safe time.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than adding complex-sounding wording. Proofread spelling carefully and check whether each phrase expresses the intended meaning. More precise vocabulary for discussing safety, responsibility, and efficiency would help communicate your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of sentence forms, including a concession in “While this development offers numerous advantages…” and a cause-and-effect explanation beginning “This is because…”. However, the range is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. For example, “who is held accountable in an accident the owner, manufacturer or integrated ai system” is an incomplete question, while “because of convenient and efficent automated vehicles can reduce effort” has an unclear grammatical structure. There are also recurring errors with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “majority of the accidents happened by humans” and the run-on opening of the disadvantages paragraph. Practise forming complete questions and clauses, and check articles, verb forms, and punctuation when editing.
