Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall view that driverless vehicles would be beneficial, and you identify relevant points: rude driver behaviour, fatigue and drink-driving as possible problems that automation could reduce. You also acknowledge two disadvantages, navigation-system failure and brake failure. However, the response addresses the question only partially: the advantages are asserted rather than explained, and the disadvantages are listed without considering their likelihood or consequences. The opening says you will discuss both sides, but there is no developed comparison showing why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The response is also below the required 250 words, which limits the opportunity to explain and support your ideas. Develop each point with a reason and a relevant example, then state your judgement clearly in a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening, a paragraph supporting driverless vehicles, and a final paragraph introducing concerns. The ideas are broadly related to the topic, and phrases such as “In my opinion” and “the second one” signal the writer’s direction. However, progression is difficult to follow because the first main paragraph combines several points in one long sequence, while the final paragraph gives two concerns without explaining how they connect to the overall judgement. Linking is repetitive, especially the repeated use of “and” and “also,” and references such as “this feature” are not always precise. Use separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, connect each reason to its effect, and finish with a concise conclusion that answers the comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “driverless,” “navigation system,” “accident,” and “drunk,” so the reader can identify the main subject and concerns. However, the range is basic and several words or phrases are repeated, such as “best thing,” “good thing,” and “feature.” There are also frequent spelling and word-choice problems, including “inovation,” “passage” where “passengers” is intended, “nevigation,” and “fault.” These errors sometimes make the meaning less clear and limit precision. Aim to use more exact terms for the benefits and risks, such as “reduce human error,” “system malfunction,” and “road safety,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid relying on general praise; explain specifically what driverless technology could improve.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response communicates a general opinion and attempts to connect ideas using clauses, for example, “because this is really good thing” and “when they are drunk and its not safe to drive.” However, sentence structures are very limited, and many sentences contain frequent errors that can make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “this will be the best thing will happens,” “people have reported drivers behaviour,” and “there are many videos have uploaded.” Verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries need attention. Several ideas are joined into long run-on sentences, with inconsistent punctuation and capitalisation. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then add accurate subordinate clauses using forms such as “because,” “when,” and “although.”
