Student answer (Band 6.0)
All cars, buses, and trucks will be driverless in the future. Due to advancing technology these vehicles will be driven by robots or artificial intelligence, and only people traveling inside these vehicles will be passengers. I do believe that the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages. This topic however, requires further discussion.
To begin with, driverless vehicles would solve so many problems that arises from humans driving like one fo the problem is accidents. For instance, driverless cars would communicate using advance technology and without emotions which is lacking in humans. As a result, there will be less accidents and loss of life.
Secondly, driverless vehicles would also mean deduction in human effort. There will be less humans driving which would ultimately mean less labor. To ellaborate, driverless vehicles would decrease the need for human drivers and taxi companies will just buy this technology instead of hiring human drivers which is a long process due to checking the background information of the drivers, and safety issues like careless drivers. As an outcome, companies will not waste time and effort in looking for drivers for their expensive vehicles.
Although, there are many benefits of driverless vehicles there are also cons of it. Firstly, unemployment to illustrate, driverless vehicles will make those humans lose their jobs. As a result, unemployment rates will rise and people will oppose this concept. Secondly, the trust factor to explain, humans trust other humans and it will be complex for most to trust driverless cars. As a result, people will hesitate to travel in these vehicles.
To conclude, I strongly believe that the pros of driverless cars outweigh the cons as driverless cars will solve the biggest issue of driving which are accidents and so many lives will be saved.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear view in the introduction and conclusion: you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The points about reducing accidents and saving lives, lowering companies’ recruitment effort, unemployment, and public trust are relevant. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The accident point would be stronger with a specific explanation of how communication between vehicles prevents collisions, while the trust concern is asserted rather than supported with an example or consequence. The claim that companies will save time is explained, but its connection to the wider benefits of driverless transport could be clearer. Develop each main point with a precise example and explain how it supports your overall judgement. The response meets the required length; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing expressions such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several points are introduced with formulaic phrases such as “To illustrate” and “To explain,” without smoothly connecting the explanation to the claim. The sentence beginning “Although, there are many benefits” also creates an awkward transition, and the list-like presentation of unemployment and trust limits the flow within that paragraph. Use fewer signposting phrases and build clearer links between each claim, its explanation, and its effect. More precise referencing would also help the reader track ideas across sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless vehicles,” “artificial intelligence,” “unemployment rates,” and “background information.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “As a result” and “outweigh the disadvantages.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “deduction in human effort,” “less humans driving,” and “the trust factor.” Spelling errors such as “fo” and “ellaborate” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Choose expressions that fit the intended meaning—for example, “reduced need for human labour” rather than “deduction in human effort”—and check spelling and collocations during proofreading.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “driverless vehicles would solve…” and a subordinate clause beginning “which is lacking in humans.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “problems that arises” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “there will be less accidents” uses an incorrect plural construction. The sentence “Firstly, unemployment to illustrate…” is incomplete, while “Although, there are many benefits…” has awkward punctuation around the opening clause. Work on agreement, countable plural nouns, and complete sentence structure. Reading each sentence aloud and checking that every clause has a clear subject and verb would help improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex sentences.
